Hi, I have just joined and have a question.

Does anyone have any experience, or know of anyone with experience, of fainting during labour?

This is my second pregnancy, and it was necessary to have a section (although not an emergency). I am hoping for vbac, but am worried about it.

I do have a problem with fainting and it can happen for numerous reasons-too hot, anxious, uncomfortable, pain, dehydrated, etc etc. I don't have low blood pressure, or low iron, or a heart condition, just a tendency to faint.

I have a hospital appointment mid-Dec and I will mention these concerns with them just wondered if anyone could shed some light in the meantime.

Ta.

I was considered a fainting risk during my 2nd pregnancy due to a heart condition. I didn't actually faint so I can't comment on that but I was told that I wasn't to be left on my own during labour due to the risk of hurting myself if I fainted. So once labour started my DH hovered nearby. At the hospital I had a MW with me all the time and she monitored my heart rate and BP regularly but it wasn't invasive.

I have a tendancy to faint but I never felt faint during labour. I think the rush of adrenaline and hormones was too strong. Just my personal experience.
