I can easily fall asleep 4+ times a day, every day. I always feel tired.

I've been blaming Sophie for waking me up but I feel like this even when she sleeps through.

I can even fall asleep at the movies when there are explosions and loud noise that would wake the dead!

Yesterday I closrd my eyes while walking and felt that I was about to go to sleep then too.

I've stopped driving just in case.

Anyone know what could be wrong? My GP advised going to bed earlier and was no help.

I usually go to bed at 9pm and get up around 5am. Either Sophie or Thomas wake me about once a night.

I would think bloodwork would be a good idea, to rule out a vitamin or iron deficiency, either of which could contribute to excessive tiredness. I had an iron deficiency for a while, and it made me very tired. I have a good friend with a vitamin B deficiency who has to take prescription amounts or she has crazy tiredness. Worth getting checked to see if its something as simple as that, and a specific vitamin supplement could help.

I did have that done recently and my iron is always on the high side. I have infrequent and scanty periods so I don't seem to get low iron like most women. During my first pregnancy my iron was something stupid like 5 times as high as the normal high range.

I'm thinking it might be sleep apnea as my Oh refuses to sleep near me now. The snoring drives him crazy and he says I stop breathing a lot. I'm ordering an at home apnea test thingamagig.

Thanks for your reply :)

I have sleep apnea and I could have made a post identical to yours before I got it all sorted. I finally sought help after I fell asleep while driving on the highway. Thank goodness it was while sitting in bumper to bumper traffic so it was just a fender bender. Back then I couldn't watch a movie, or even a TV show, without falling asleep. My doctor had a hard time believing that it could be apnea because I was a young, slender, female... not your typical apnea patient. The sleep test doesn't lie though and I do in fact have it pretty severely. I was even on prescription stimulants for a while and had to get tested for narcolepsy. I tried to adjust to a CPAP machine for 2 years and I just couldn't do it so eventually I got an oral appliance and that has been working pretty well. I still stop breathing for more than 10 seconds at a time on average about 8 times per hour. Under 5 times per hour is considered normal, so even after treatment I am considered to have mild apnea, but I manage to stay awake in the day just fine now.

Oh, btw... some people take to CPAP instantly though so don't let my experience sour yours should you need one. When I actually used the CPAP it was much more effective than the oral appliance, I just could never sleep for any length of time while wearing it so I gave up.

If you do have sleep apnea, it really isn't the end of the world. I hope you don't, but good luck either way!

It could be sleep apnea, my friend has it and is pretty much the same as you, at least by ordering the test you'll find out either way x
