due to medical reasons I have to stop breastfeeding. I'm wondering the fastest, most effective way to dry up milk supply that won't be too painful.
today is day 2 that I'm not breastfeeding. I've been pumping or hand-expressing some milk when my breasts start to feel overly engorged - really hard and painful. they are staying engorged, but I've read just to express enough to relieve some of the pressure. should I be expressing at any particular interval? every few hours? or just as needed? should I wait a certain amount of time before I express again? we were combi-feeding before, so LO is accustomed to having bottles, but he also likes his booby time. he's been a little upset yesterday and today, and when he cries my boobs ache badly. any tips for this period of adjustment? for him and for me? it breaks my heart I can't breastfeed him anymore.
any suggestions or advice appreciated...
