Feedback on Our Girl Name Please :-)

Hi Ladies,

We are having a girl! We don't have a lot of names we like in common. There are a couple that seem to keep popping up that we both agree on.

The first name we seem to have agreed on as a serious possibility:

Allison Frances (and last name = 2 syllables)

(Frances is not my first choice but I don't despise it. It is my mom's name and I really really want to honor her somehow with the name).

Thoughts?

And Frances is great especially since its meaningful.

I really like the name Allison/Alyson. I'm not usually one for classic/traditional names - but there are some I love and this is one of them. I especially love the nickname "Allie."

I would personally choose a middle name I love or find a variation I like of a meaningful name. Like Francesca instead of Frances, for example. I think it's nice to name the baby after your mom, but only if you are 100% happy with the name.

Thank you ladies! My boyfriend and I were talking and now he likes Molly for a first name. Gotta love men. I mentioned that name weeks ago and he said he didn't like it. So, another possible option is:

Molly Frances

I love Frances, and I didn't really have an opinion on Allison - it's one of those names that's always seemed to be around, but now I've thought about it, it's really pretty. Molly is nice, but a lot more common.

I think for the moment Allison and Molly are our front runners.

As for middle names, I love the idea of Frances but I love the name Rose (for either first name) and think it sounds prettier in general. But again, I think about how much I actual use my middle name so it seems sort of pointless and I should use my mom's name. Man, this baby naming business is hard!

My name is Alison, only one L but I really like my name. Most of my family and friends call me Ali, but I don't mind either way! I think its a great choice!

Thank you everyone for all your thoughts! We are now leaning towards "Molly" for our little girl with a middle name to be determined.

Some possibilities:

Molly Frances (Frances is my mom's name)

Molly Allison (concerned it doesn't flow well and/or sounds like two first names?)

I prefer that a middle name be meaningful to it sounding perfect with the first name. My mom and I share a middle name, and I really like that connection now that she's gone. If I was having a girl, I would give her the same middle name too.

Allison and Molly are great names..you won't go wrong!
