Why do people feel the need to feed my baby before she's even being weaned? I've had OH's family feed her mashed banana and let her suck on a cube of melon, which I can kind of accept.

But recently it's been pistachio ice cream (nuts!), strawberry jam (sugar!) and almond cake (nuts & sugar!)

:growlmad: If I say anything, it's "oh, you shouldn't worry about it". She's my child!! We're so anal about her only having healthy foods once she's on solids, and we don't want her getting overweight (OH is overweight, and he says it's because his family taught him bad eating habits). It's not like she will never be allowed treats, but so young?! I want to give her a 100% healthy start, and only introduce snacks when she is old enough to ask for them. Now we're worried that when we leave her with someone, she'll be fed nothing but crap, because 'food is love', if you know what I mean.

Grrrr. What's wrong with waiting until she's 6 months, and what's wrong with letting the parents do it? I don't want her growing up thinking granny will give her treats :nope:

Urgh what a pain! Why do people think feeding solids to a too-young baby is something amusing to do? I've never understood that.

Yes, I wouldn't be happy with that either...I've a friend who I've tactfully had to intercede, as she's wanted to offer DD all sorts of things I am not keen on!
