Feeding and the heat!

Is it normal for the heat to affect how many oz your LO takes? Jessica is normally really consistent with her feeding and pretty much sticks to 6oz every 3.5 hours, sometimes 7oz but yesterday she was only taking about 4oz and she took 2oz at 10am then slept until 1pm which is really unual for her to sleep through a feed like that. Do u think its the heat thats causing it? In general she is still feeding but just when counting throughout the whole day its a big difference. Kx

Yeah, Elyse had been taking less when it was really hot.. she wasn't sleeping very well either though!

We turned on our air conditioning and she's back to normal now

Violet is sleeping a lot more but she seems ok with her feeding at the moment, there isn't any noticable difference to what she's taking xx

Now u mention that Jessica has been sleeping loads more than usual too, just thought maybe a growth spurt but it prob all goes hand in hand with her sleeping so much and feeding less. Its not a major drop and she is still taking around 4oz each feed but throught day it makes up to about 10oz less so will jsut keep an eye on her. Its such a shame when theyre not used to the heat, must knock them for six! Thanks girls. Kx

Same here! Leos dropped a few ounces from his feed too. Im sure they will be back to normal once the good old british weather returns to its normal state. x

Yes! Amelia normally drinks around 6 oz but has been taking about 4 oz each feed for the past few days so i have been adding what she doesn't drink to her solid food where i can - she is still down on her intake, though - she woke up at 11.30pm screaming for a bottle last night.....she normally doesn't want feeding till around 2 - 3am!

Phew!!! This is why I love this forum!!! Becky has been down on her feeds for a few days now and I have been worrying! Reading this thread has stopped me worrying so much now!!! Glad it's not just my baby that is feeding less!!! She is down about 8 oz a day at the mo....

I'm breastfeeding, and I am having trouble too. Feeds are taking hours. Her problem is, she is convinced she has had enough or falls into a deep sleep quickly, but once awake, 5 or 10 minutes later is screaming for more. It's doing my head in!!
