I think my dd has always had a bit of reflux, she pukes quite a lot and can soak an outfit quite quickly. But she never seemed bothered so I didn't get treatment. Recently over a week or so she's started arching her back a lot, being fussy over feeding and won't settle as easily for naps/ sleep. She has a 6oz bottle of formula in the evening but is breastfed otherwise. She seems to be growing well. Can reflux get worse around this stage? I thought things like that should be improving by now. Or is this something else? Confused!

I don't have any advice, but we are experiencing the same thing and it started around 3 1/2 months. Sometimes she nurses just fine, other times she will latch and feed for a minute then break off and arch her back and start crying. I have to give her the pacifier to calm her down, then pull the paci out and stick my boob in quickly. She will feed for a minute and then do the same thing again. It can take ages for her to get a full feed. She has also started spitting up a lot which is something she never used to do.

it could be reflux/ trapped wind or an allergy causing the issues.

its worth getting them checked out to be sure which xx

I agree maybe getting them checked out.it could be a phase too. Other options since you both are nursing keep a journal of what you are eating. I've had to cut out dairy and caffeine. Dairy causes her to cry and cry and spit up.. So I've quit eating that. She still had moments of lots of spit up and some crying and I discovered it was after I had coffee, even half decaf so I've cut that out. Good luck! I hope you both get it figured out and your lo's are feeling better.

Thanks she does seem unsettled but not poorly, I was wondering if it could be a bug too. I'm going to take her to the health visitor tomorrow then at least she can be weighed.

I agree if it's suddenly come on its likely a bug x

This does sound likely.

If it was something I suggested before, like an allergy or sensitivity to something it likely would have shown up sooner. Hope your LO is feeling better :hugs:

just as a refference.. my little ones CMPA wasnt picked up till 5months old as he had no symptoms at first then it was just put down to other things <3

Well I spoke to the hv today and she also suggested a bug or reflux. None of us have been ill recently though so I don't know where she's got it from. She's only put on 5oz in 3 weeks which doesn't seem like a lot. But she has had chicken pox. She told me to get her weighed in 2 weeks. She's actually been slightly better today so hopefully things will get better

I found the last few days things have been better if I feed her less often. She doesn't show a lot of hunger cues so I just offer her the breast a lot, and it seems like she cries and arches away from me most often when she is feeding even though she isn't very hungry. If I wait until she is actually hungry she feeds for much longer and doesn't arch away from me nearly as much. I wonder if he was just getting pissed at me always sticking my boobs in her face.
