We are driving to Los Angeles on Tuesday which is about a 7 hour drive. My twins are combi fed 1/2 breast milk 1/2 formula. We use similac organic powder. For the trip I am going to buy some similac organic ready to feed in 32 ounce bottles. I can pump while we drive then mix that milk with the formula. My babies like their bottles really warm so I'm hoping they don't mind that they are air temp.

Do the big bottles of ready to feed have to be refrigerated right after opening? Like should we bring an ice chest? Any tips for feeding on the road?

in uk they have to be refridgerated, do they sell small cartons as those may be better? in uk they tend to have baby feeding areas ar motorway services with bottle warmers. dont know about ,US sorry x

I have only found the single serve bottles online and I almost bought some but shipping was rediculous! We can bring an ice chest but then the bottle will be even colder. That's cool you have services over there with bottle warmers. I'm thinking we can go to a gas station and just get cups of hot water since they have it available for making tea.

We just took a 8 hr trip and I just took a gallon of baby water and a can of powdered formula and made it when he was ready to eat. My little guy will drink room temperature milk though. You can always carry a thermos of hot water to warm bottles.

I premake mine like I always do and just store them in a coolbag with an icepack or two. I take a flask of hot water with me so I can warm it up. I travel between the UK and Germany so my OH sits in the back with her. We stop every 2 or 3 hours to change nappy, have a stretch etc. LO is also having solids so I just take pouches for journeys. Never had a problem with this so far.

I used to take a thermos or two, a bunch of sterile bottles and just make as I needed :)

I just started introducing formula since I'll have to do half and half when I go back to work (don't think I'll be able to pump as often as he eats during the day), and I bought a small container of ready to feed to try before I bought a big one. It does need to be refrigerated once opened, and then used within 24 hours. :) Have fun, my brother lives in LA!
