Hi.
Every since caleb was born apart from being in hopsital ( special care & neonatal), caleb has been fed on demand . Over the last few day caleb has been starting to have bottles at a smilular time. i think he's probably having a growth spurt but should i note down when he has his bottles and try and continue it until his spurt slows down.
This is was todays
4am wakes for bottle
6/7- gets up and gets changed and sits in bouncer
8/9 bottle
9-10 play time/bouncer
10/11 bottle
11.30-1pm-awake kicking legs
1pm bottle
1.30-4 lying on floor being smiley/playful
4pm bottle
5pm-30 min nap
6-bottle
7-7.30 nap
7.30- bottle
8pm bed
He will probably go till 4am. should i try and keep to this or keep to feed on demand x any replies grateful:thumbup:

If you're happy with this routine you could try sticking to it for a day or two and see what happens - if he's not hungry at those times he won't take the bottle, so it's pretty simple really!

If was full term, 7 bottles a day does seem like quite a lot for 4 months old, even with a growth spurt. If he was preemie I'm not sure how it compares though. My HV said that at 4 months she'd expect about 5 bottles per day. We've been on 4 bottles a day since before 4 months.

When he wakes at 4am are you sure he's hungry, or might he just have decided it's time to get up? If he would settle for a bit longer without a bottle you might be able to drop the first one and bring the next one a little bit earlier.

he was only only having 5 bottles a couple of days ago. Yeah he's hungry at 4am takes a full bottle . maybe its just his growth spurt and he will slow down soon. he is having his jabs on wednesday so will speak to hv. he was born 36 +4 so not sure how they work it either. x thanks for the reply x

How much does he take per bottle? what's his weight? the guidelines says 2.5 x his weight in lbs to knw how much he should take. Omar takes only 4 bottles per day, but he takes 3 7 oz bottles & 1 8 oz at bedtime. He usually takes between 28-32 oz per day.

I started with a routine, but found it wasnt working too well so i started to feed on demand. Its worked great, and Harriet has now cut out a night feed coz she has it in the day.

at the moment its 70z bottles roughly 6 bottles for the day and he is 13lb 70z. so that should be 34oz a day and he is having 42oz wow thats alot. Ive got his jabs wednesday so if he's doing the same by then i will just ask hv see what they say.xhe was on 5-6 bottles of 60z so that would be 30-36 so that seems better. could be a big growth spurt:haha:
