I dont know if its my age,.. ( I hope not) but just going up the stairs takes everything outta me. My legs get so weak I can barely make it to the top, my pulse races, I get weak and dizzy and have to sit down. This isnt right! I take my vitamins everyday without fail, Im wondering if I can still have low iron? Im going in for some bloodwork to see whats going on.

Anyone having the same problems?

I have the same issues with stairs--our home is three levels. Of course, the laundry room is on the first level, and none of the laundry is housed down there :(. My older kids have been a huge help. If I don't carry anything up the stairs, I'm much less winded. I think the shortness of breath is pretty common....hadn't really considered there might be something wrong with me...lol. It's certainly not my age...hehehe. Generally, walking hasn't bothered me at all--just been these blasted stairs!

That's what's kept me off work for the last 7 weeks honey! Its crap and all the doctors tell me is that it should resolve when the baby is born! x

Wow, ur drs said nothing wrong? Im kinda hoping its my iron, then i can fix it ;) I was just out to get groceries, and I had to keep stopping cuz my legs were burning, and I was running out of breath! Last summer I did the mayors run in my community, 5 km of straight running and never felt this bad! I ran maybe 3 times a week. So I dont get this. I actually just booked with my trainer to start back up on jan 9th, but if I feel like this I dont know how much Ill be able to do there! Dammit!

I am a fitness intructor and I still teach about 7 classes a week and the stairs are my worst enemy!!! I feel like Kung fu panda when he sees the stairs :haha:! Although I have to say that it is getting harder and harder to teach my cardio classes! My legs burn during class too and I need to slow down to be able to catch my breath.

I blame mine on gaining too much weight so far, but definitely not my age. :) My blood work (glucose test and iron, etc) came back perfect. I think it may be the increase in blood volume that causes the winded effect and burning muscles. Can't hurt to ask your doc though, as it's better ask and it be nothing rather than not ask and it be something.

My doctor has tested everything he can, I've had heart and lung scans blood tests and ecg's and everything says I'm fine except for the fact that I'm breathless and my heart goes too fast...the conclusion is to blame it on the baby xx

Let us know what the doctor tells you, happymamma......if it's helpful, we'll all want to try it!

Well I had my blood work done on Friday, and its now tuesday. So my dr didnt call me that means everything is fine! I was hoping it was an easy fix. Im still going to try the gym on the 9th and see how it goes. I miss working out, I miss running. But I cant even get my runners on! Oh I just thought of that! I wonder if I can go to the gym barefoot ;)

My doc said its completely normal as the blood and oxygen is now being shared between you and baby..... Taking deeper breaths helps me, but doesnt rectify the problem completely.

I had lots of breathlessness, by the time I walked up the stairs I was puffing and panting! My DH used to shout up to see if I was ok! I used to seriously consider if I really had to go up the stairs!!

The good news is that now the baby is here I can run up and down the stairs no problem!

I wasn't aware of my heart racing as such, but after the birth they wouldn't let me out for 2 days as my pulse rate was so high! Bloods and urine tests showed nothing so they put it down to 'having a baby' and let me out - new its returned to normal!
