Ok ladies,I need a hobby. I'm wasting hour's looking at rubbish online (present company excluded!)and think I would like to try making a few felt decorations. Is it easy to do? Can anyone recommend a beginner's kit to try? I like the look of this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dimensions...F8&qid=1414366047&sr=8-9&keywords=felting+kit
I really would love to eventually do something like this

Any advice appreciated!

I have no idea but they look fab. It's such a cool skill to have xx

Eta just realised links I posted are 2 different techniques....I really am amateur!

I make felt decorations, i've actually started to sell them to get some extra money towards our wedding next year, it was only after a few people became interestd in them.

If you're interested or need any help with anything feel free to pm me.

I have done this one a few years ago:

It was pretty easy. The only slightly tricky part for a beginner is learning to do a blanket stitch. You can just find a youtube video to show you how.

This year I want to make those for my mini christmas tree:

they might be a little hard for a beginner only because of their size. But you could just print the pattern larger and make regular size ornaments.

Sorry I've never worked with kits. I imagine having things pre-cut would make it easier though.

They're the ones I've made so far, my 2 year old loves them. I have them hanging on a corkboard for now and he points to each one naming them.

I'm doing the christmas tree that Marie000 posted. I have never worked with felt before but do know how to hand sew. - you should look at the website for the christmas tree because she has lots of great ideas and the templates are all free and she tells you what to buy.

I've enjoyed it so much I have ordered the kit to make LO a new stocking.

I'm also planning to make loads of felt food for LO's 3rd birthday.

What thread do you use?? Is it just normal cotton? ?? X

I use DMC cross stitch thread - luckily I have loads from previous cross stitch projects.

I did this...ok so a bit wonky in places but it's my 1st one

That's brilliant! I've just bought this https://www.wauwaa.com/product-bund...ng-kit?destination=shop/button-bag-craft-kits got it with a 60% off code, so it was a bargain! Looking forward to making it. I wanted to do the 3D felt tree that someone posted here.... but as a beginner, thought I'd start small!
