Femara instead of Clomid

I saw my FS last night to get my new plan for my second round of IUI in October and he has prescribed me Femara instead of Clomid to try and see if that helps, also with the Gonal F. I just wanted to ask if any of you had switched over to Femara and if there were any positive outcomes?? I didn't have any bad side effects from the Clomid but he was worried it may affect my womb lining which the Femara won't do xx

My fertility specialist prescribed me Femara and Gonal F for my last cycle. It worked great, unfortunately a little too great, and I overstimulated and we had to abandon the cycle. I actually had 12 mature follicles at my last ultrasound. Oopsie!

So, the good news is that it worked and my lining looked great (over 12 mm!)

My FS felt so bad, but at least we know that it will work for me! I overstimulated so much that we have to wait another cycle before beginning another medicated cycle. So I will be taking a lower dose of Gonal F around mid-October.

I felt so much better on the Femara/Gonal F combo than clomid. My husband said that I was much better to be around, too. I also didn't have the bloating that I had when I was taking the clomid.

My RE prefers Femara vs Clomid and will be starting me on it next month. I have heard many good things about Femara and I hope it works well for me too.

thanks for this post - im no longer able to have clomid due to side affects so am hoping to try femara - sounds like a good option! Hope it works for you Vicks and Hopeful

Blimey 12 follicles!!!! What dose of Gonal F were you on and what has he prescribed you for next time. I've been given 150 which is what I had before with the Clomid. I'm due my IUI mid October, just waiting for AF to come which should be some time next week and then I can get some firmer dates. I think it will be w/c 11 October.

I was prescribed Femara 5mg on cd3-7, Gonal F 150 on cd 7 and cd 9. I had an ultrasound on cd10 and she wanted to see my follicles a little bigger so she prescribed me Gonal F 150 on cd 10, cd11. I went in for another ultrasound on cd12 and I guess there was a party going on in there!

I hope it does too. My RE seems to not go with the consensus, but instead relies on his years of experience. For instance, I have pcos and never had regular monthly cycles. Most I"ve had in a year is probably 4 to 5, and when he said he was putting me on Actoplusmet instead of Metformin, I was kinda skeptical cos every one I know on here with pcos gets put on metformin. But guess what, one after I got started on the lowest dose possible, I started having regular periods and have been for the past 4 months.

So now I know not to doubt my RE's decisions.

I'm this "lady" who's pregnant with triplets after femara.

I started on 2.5mg, but didn't ovulate. My OB increased the dosage to 5mg and on the third month we conceived fraternal triplets. I had no side effects on the femara except for sore boobs.

I was on clomid last month and it made me SUPER moody and depressed! DH said that the Dr would have to find another Med for us..he couldnt handle another month of the horrible moods I was going through on clomid! The clomid did work but we had a mc just before 5 weeks along. That was on September 11th....Now I am on cd 15 and have been on femara...it was 5mg on cd 3 through 7. I had NO side effects and last night I got a positive on my OPK!!!! yay so it's working!! I think you will like the femara!!!

I go for testing tomorrow, blood work and U/S. Going on a shopping to Philly over the weekend, so I will some of the scans, but as long as I see an elevated levels tomorrow I am good for the weekend. Interestingly enough I was told to day I have high LH levels hmmm interesting, don't know what that would mean
