Hey ladies, I need to know if any of you have put gripe water in LO's milk?? We got a dosage syringe yesterday but he still won't take it, ended up choking and scaring the life out of us  if so when did you add it?...before/after wArming milk (we make bottles up in advance) or when you first make the bottles up?

At my wits end with this colic! We've tried infacol, cooled boiled water, Colief (which worked amazingly for a couple of weeks). We wind him after every ounce, feed him sat up, keep him sat up for 20-30 mins after his feed....but nothing works :(

Hiya - My baby suffered from colic. Gripe water didnt do anything to be honest but its worth a try putting in his bottle to try. I think after warming is fine.

How long did you try Infacol for? It takes a few days/week to kick in. What dosage did you try? 1 pipette or 2 pipettes?

I swear by baby massage for Colic. I did this massage 3 times a day and he seemed to get alot better after a couple of days - but do persevere with it (even if you dont see any immediate progress)

We tried infacol for about 2 weeks, 1 pipette in the first week then upped it to 2 as it was doing nothing...I swear it actually made him worse! A lot of people swear by it but others say it just causes more problems...guess it depends on the baby

Thanks for sharing that video, I was thinking about looking into baby massage classes but will definitely try that for now  x

We just popped the gripe water into the feed just before serving. It seemed to have a positive effect.

We also use dr brown's bottles which we think are amazing for reducing wind. Which bottles are you on?

We use Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottles, which apparently have an anti colic teat. Also got a couple of Avent natural bottles for free which we've tried out too and they have an anti colic valve on them so I figured it's nothing to do with the bottles

Have heard a lot about the dr.brown bottles but they're quite expensive aren't they?

The tt anti colic are awful, didn't work at all for us and find countless reviews saying the same thing.
Dr browns are great, worth the money. Mam anti colic are great too.

They can be pricey but you sometimes get a good deal on starter pack. Might be worth a go for a few feeds if you are at your wits end to see if it has any effect.

Mothercare currently have a two pack for 12.99 I think.

I've read a lot of reviews about them leaking constantly?

Im tempted to get a couple to try out...

I used Avent Natural because of the anti-colic valve - absolute rubbish. We changed to Dr Browns and haven't looked back. They only leak when you mix the water and formula too vigorously, it goes up the tube in the middle and out of the sides of the bottle. I have taken ready made bottles out with me in the baby bag and as long as they are upright they won't leak. The heat from the water can sometimes be the culprit as it increases the pressure in there but honestly, the inconvenience of a bit of a leak now and then is nothing compared to the benefits.

I have added gripe water to formula before, my LO refused it on its own so I tried it - it was a taste that took my breath away and I felt so mean after realising! So yes, I would put the gripe water into the formula but maybe add it to the last bit of milk rather than the while bottle so you know how much of it LO has actually taken. But honestly, I can't fault Dr Brown's bottles.

Yeh if you put the straw bit in and tighten the lid before its cool enough it will leak everywhere. Or if you shake the bottle as opposed to swirling it.

I tend to leave the straw bit loose in the milk and tighten the lid if im taking still warm formula out in th bag. I simply attach the straw when its time to feed.

The bottles are a bit more fiddly to wash.

Overall its just a slightly different way of doing things but for us the benefits also far outweighed the negatives as someone else said.

Have you tried the boots own brand gripe water? It's apple flavoured and seems to have the same effect as the wood wards one but tastes much better

We have used dr browns bottles winces LO started with colic at 3 weeks, now at almost 10 months I thought she would be ok with some 'normal' bottles now to save the faff of washing the dr browns etc. I bought some tommee tippee closer to nature ones and she got awful wind again and they seemed to really flare up her reflex so after 2 weeks of persisting we went back to dr browns.

They only leak if the water/milk is too hot or you try and warm with the lid screwed on tight. We use these when we warm and mix the bottles as they don't like being shaken with the vent thingie inside https://www.mothercare.com/Dr-Brown's-Natural-Flow-Travel-Caps--2-Pack/809452,default,pd.html
