Hooray

Gave up on the SMA staydown. Lucy refuses to have cold milk even if she's screaming for her feed!!!

Took her to the dcs and he prescribed Gaviscon, I wasn't too impressed as I've heard many people talking about it and said it's no use.

So I gave it to her for the last two feeds yesterday and she was sick!!!

Thought I'd persevere today and 'hooray', no more reflux!!!!!

Wow we're vice versa! Its weird, what works for some doesnt for another!

Gaviscon can cause harder nappies tho :( so you might need to offer some water.

You dont have to give it cold hun i certainly dont, i dont give it as warm as before but uts still tad warmer than room temp doc said perfectly fine, its brilliant stuff & that gaviscon dint work for us .

I tried to warm it slightly but it got too thick for her and she couldn't get it through the teat, we're already on the 3months+ teats so don't really want to moths her onto 6month ones.

Was really happy until today about the gaviscon, but then for the final two feeds it didn't work at all, AND like the previous post states, she's really strggling with pooing!!!!

ARRRGGGGHHHHH! So confused on what is the best action to take!!!

AR /comfort formula worked perfectly for my LO. He still vomits from time to time, but it's more of spitting, & mucus because of his stuffy nose. I use warm water & 3+ teats. It's a bit thick & I noticed that my LO is taking less milk, as he doesnt always take all his bottle, but it's fine for me as long as he's not vomitting.

Which comfort formula did you use?

Hi thirdtime, wow you are having exactly the same problem as us. Gav worked a treat for the first couple of days and now suddenly he's starting puking badly again. Are you on the maximum dosage they can be on? Ours is now taking 2 sachets per feed but he is nearly 15lbs. That seemed to be doing the trick, but I have just done a silly and only given one sachet for the last feed and he wont stop throwing up! - I was getting concerned about the amount of drugs going into him and he's also straining so much for a poo, it's making him cry

hey lucy lu after a couple of days giving gaviscon we are starting to find it isnt working anymore and also she is beginnin to struggle with pooing and is also so extremely grizzly and upset all the way through a feed. its heart breaking:cry:

i wish i knew the secret to making them all better straight away:cry:

if gaviscon doesnt work you must go back to the doctor, there are other things to try

god i hope so coz its awful bless her. i will be making an appointment for monday as our docs are shut over the weekend which is a pain.x

If the pooing is causing probs, definitely try offering water - even just an ounce a day helped my LO no end. The only problem was that he hated it!! Still, better to have them screaming cos they're annoyed than becase they are in pain....

Lucy has had everything going and nothing is really seeming to help.

She's had gav - worked for a few days then stopped!!
THen she had domperidone with ranitidine and that did nothing!!
She's now on a tablets which she has to have mixed with water (omperazole I think), but she's only started that today!! So far not better though!!!

awww bless her:cry: i hope something works soon coz its horrible watching them go through the pain isnt it.

btw your pic of your lil girl is absolutly gorgeous.she looks so inquisitive.she gona break a few hearts.lol:flower:

bumpy buttons, third time - sorry to hear your LOs are having such a bad time. i think the upped dose of gav is doing the trick for us luckily. he's still throwing up a fair bit but not arching his back in pain anymore. have been giving him water too and its helped him to poo.

hope the drs can help you find something that works for your LOs - so horrible to see them suffering.

to be honest i got fed up with docs! trying to do a lactose intolerance test etc and giving gaviscon which like for most worked for a few days then back to square one! I also hated the idea of that much sodium going into her!

I switched to soy formula and although the spitting up is still happening, she's now a happy puker! she will smile with milk pouring through! lol. She used to start arching her back and screaming 10 mins into a feed and then scream and be uncomfy inbetween feeds! She's now my happy bunny, so I'm happy...she's still gaining weight, feeding 3-4 hourly and sleeping 8 hours at night!

I figured the symptoms were from a milk protein allergy as when I used comfort milk (which is lactose reduced) she improved, but still not quite as happy. so cutting out the milk protein all together (soy) seems to have done the trick!

i'm not saying it's the cause of all reflux problems, but it worked for us.
