Hey everyone...

It's been a while since I posted on here... But I've been chatting heaps with louisa so I figured I'd better come back.

So, hubby and I finally decided a few months ago to see a doc about our trouble conceiving. For 4 years we assumed it was my weight (I am 'morbidly obese grrr').

Doc said 'yeah could be, but well check him out first'. His results shocked us. He is in perfect health, and he has a low sperm count AND low motility.

Doc didn't check me out, but referred us to a Gyno (who is afeeder doc for a Fertility Clinic here.) After 7 weeks we got in... and we had our first visit last week.

Gyno agreed that based on hubby's results we would need ICSI regardless of my test outcomes. However, acording to my bloodtests, it is my weight messing my hormone levels and thus am not ovulating. So, doc doesn't see any problem with us having ICSI... esp since it appears there is no problems on my side.

We sat andlistened to him for an hour explaining everyhting. WHen he asked if we had any questions I said 'Aren't you going to tell me to come back when I've lost half my weight??' The doc said 'no... why?'

He claims that so long as I maintain my weight and monitor it carefully and follow a strict program, I would have no more increased risk preg than any other preg... Hubby and I were floored!

So, here's where it stands... we have to go back in 2 months for a few more tests... all the biggies.... then in DEcember (school hols here in Aus - 7 weeks YAY) We will begin our first cycle. That gives me about.... 5 months to lose some weight. Any I lose willb e a bonus of course.

So, I am so relieved that there is hope. I'm annoyed I didn't listen to friends and get this checked years ago!

But there is hope... :D

That's great news, you've got something to look forward to and it'll make it easier to lose the weight because you're not under pressure. Good luck with the next step xx

thanks, it's been a LONG time coming.. I can't wait to get started!!!

That's fantastic news hun - think i'll come over there for my IVF as i've been told to lose 3st before they will treat me! :hugs:

yeh there are a ot of places that still require a B MI under 30 i think it might be... but this particular guy is really good and wants us to start when we're ready.

Its great when we get answers that work in our favor. I'm glad for you guys.

I think they only want you to loose weight as IVF is given free here in UK for one go if that fails rest would be private.. so for the best chance to get your BFP on that one shot they do advise your BMI to be under 30.. for a better chance i suppose health with issues..

x

ahhh.. here, nothing is free *rolls eyes*...

But I guess Medicare here girvs a decent rebate...
