Ok, this may sound like a silly question, but with so many people who have babies the same age as mine I have to ask it.

When giving finger foods like toast etc, how do they chew it if there teeth are only just coming through? I know with things like mashed potato they just move it around their mouths to make it easier to swallow, but things like toast and cheese I can't work out how.

I'm worried that he is now coming on 8 months and is still only eating purees.

They mush it up in their mouths untill it's mushy enough

I just thought they used their gums, Jack seems to chew his food when he eats. It probably mushed on their tongue & roof of mouth too.

i read that babies are very good at chewing with their gums.

Thanks, I guess that makes sense, just didn't think they would be able to.
