So my first appointment with the fertility specialist is the end of this month and i was just wondering if any of you could tell me what to expect?! xx

If it's like mine it will be with a nurse who will ask lots of questions and possibly an internal scan. They will probably also arrange test for DH once you have those inital results then you will see the consultant.

My first experience, sucked. She saw me for 5 minutes, gave me Clomid, and sent me on my way.
I then switched Dr's and my apt was in December. I met with him, he took a complete history with me, my periods, how long we've been trying, family history etc. I had bloodwork done and a transvaginal ultrasound. The Dr then went over my U/S results with me. My whole apt was about an hour and 45 minutes. He perscribed me Metformin cause I have PCOS then they booked my DH in for an sperm analysis which he did two weeks ago. And I need to go back on CD3 for more bloodwork and an HSG.
I suggest you go in with your charts, if you do that, and write down any and all of your questions. It can be a bit overwhelming so you want to be prepared

Oh thats brilliant, i've been informed it will be about an hour appt so its not too short. Sounds like your new Dr is brilliant! xx

I had my first appointment yesterday. They started with a belly and vaginal scan. Then a full physcial, breast exam, pap the whole nine yards. Then the RE sat with me for 1 1/2 hours to go over my entire history including all pregnancies. I brought all my medical papers that I got from my doctors office that pertained to the first miscarriage in 2011 and all other pregnancy related paperwork up until now. The doctor was going through it with a fine tooth comb. I then was given a series of blood test that i went to do today. They took 8 viles and i still need to provide 7 more to finish off each of the other blood test. I will be going later today or monday to do the rest. My husband has to go in to do bloodwork and sperm anaylsis. (although we are confident its not him thats the problem) It was an amazing experience to have a course of action planned already (dr. wants to try a natural cycle first. SO i have to go in on day 3 for my baseline U/S and blood, then somewhere from cycle day 6-12 I will be going in to do the x-ray of my tubes with dye to see if they are clear. and then back on day 11 or 12 for a U/S to see if my follies are growing. If I have no response and I dont ovulate on my own this month then we have decided to do femara with possible trigger shot. I have never heard of a clinic to be this efficent but i'm loving them already. I am officially on Cycle day 1 today! :happydance:

I think that it depends on the Fertility Specialist you see. Our first appointment was with the doctor, my husband and I both had to be there. He asked us a whole battery of questions about our history, etc. It was probably about 20-25 minutes. He set up a time to do a semen analysis for my husband, and then I was to call when my new cycle started so he could begin monitoring my cycles. Good luck!

I have my first appointment next month so thanks for all the information it's quite helpful. I've already had 2 lots of blood tests done at my local doctors and my partner is going for a sperm analysis next week so that should be taken care of.

We already know the problem is with me as I've had an ectopic pregnancy and had a tube removed and my surgeon told me she didn't think my remaining tube worked.

I've also had an internal scan done as I had another suspected ectopic pregnancy and that showed everything was working as it should and that i'd ovulated which was good news.

Is there anything else we should expect at the first appointment?

I'm hoping to be referred for that lap & Dye to find out if my remaining tube does work.

Cheers
