I've got my booking in appointment with the midwife tomorrow and I'm very excited! Can anyone think of some questions I should ask? Don't want to come out of it and suddenly think of a million things I should've asked about but didn't!

Write everythink down before you go in . xx

Write down any and all things of medical history.
There were tiny things on my father's side of the family that I forgot about until later that evening.

I also wish I asked about a 12 week scan. I got an 8 week scan but not sure if they're also do 12.

I will try to start writing a list. The only question I can think to ask is about hair dye lol.

Saw my pregnant hairdresser yesterday. Highlights are better as they don't touch your scalp. All over colour Gould be avoided as the outcome can be so different due to hormones. Baby is not affected by any hair colouring at all. It's the just the hormone thing.

Ask for your FW8 form they can sign and sort it for you, for your free prescriptions, they will ask medical backgroung on yours and partners family history.
Ask about any foods your unsure of or supplments you may need to take.
Ask when and how your 12 week scan will be arranged, and when and how your next apt will be with them... Mine is 16 weeks but I have to ring GP surgery after 12 week scan and book myself..its diffo everywhere I think.
They probs wont listen for heartbeat as too early to hear with a doppler, they will take bloods for FBC, Syphliss, HIV, Rubbella immunity antbodies e.t.c and ask you if you would be happy to have a blood transfussion should you need one.
They will ask loads about drugs alchol domestic depression bla bla e.t.c but its all standard stuff so dont be too alarmed.
You kinda feel a little out in the cold as Midwifes dont do much until you are 25 weeks on, not much they can do before then unless you are high risk.

Would I get my matb form too then for work do you know?

My appointment (without the scan) took about an hour and a half. That was with the nurse, then the mw, and then having blood drawn.

Had mine on monday ( 7wk 5) took 1 hr 15 all with the midwife and was continous question lol (Uk NHS so no scan). Very thorough though, she had answered all my questions by the end, so i didnt need to ask any :)

Ooooo that's good to know, I'm quite looking forward to it now

I've just come back from my booking in appt!

It took just over an hour and I saw 2 midwives. One took blood (to test for all kinds of things) then they weighed me, measured my height, asked me to wee in a pot for them to analyse. Then we went through my family history, mothers health, fathers health, husbands health, diet, smoking, drinking etc. Asked if I was ever in a domestic violence situation, asked me about depression, my medical history, loads of stuff! Then they put my notes in the bounty pack along with some free samples and info leaflets and a chlamydia test!

I will now have to wait for my scan date, between 11-13 weeks but won't see the midwives again till 16 weeks.

Who does the scan? A nurse?

Scans are done at our local hospital here in Cornwall. I saw the midwives in my local doctors surgery today.

Blimey nearly 2 hours that's so long lol . I'm allways in a rush not sure I could sit still for that long lol . So they book the scan after the appointment I presume ? X
