Hello! im new to this site. Hubby and i have been ttc for two years. I'm 24 but have been diagnosed with pcos. I have been on Metformin prescribed by my obgyn for almost 2 months and havn't gotten preg yet. I met with a fertility specialist today and she has set a plan up for me . When i get my next period, I will go in and get on Letrozole. My Dr says i have nothng to worry about with this drug as far as side effects go, but im looking it up and seeing people saying it causes birth defects . I havnt seen any studies saying this, just women who have used it. Does anyone have any experience with Letrozole that they wouldnt mind sharing>?
thanks ladies

I don't have any experience with it yet but I'm pretty much exactly where you are. I have been TTC for 3 1/2 years. Suspected PCOS for a long time and was officially diagnosed in January. Started Metformin on January 30th and am now up to 1500mg a day. Took Provera to bring on AF for the first time since August and got AF on February 6th. Haven't had it since. On the 27th this month I start Provera again to bring on AF and then once it comes I will be starting Femara (letrozole) on CD3. I'm always open to new friends, especially someone in the exact same spot as me :)

Hi! I've been taking Femara/Letrozole for 2 months now, and just started the third month. Been trying to conceive our first for over 6 years now. I was on Metformin for over 2 years, and it never once helped me get pregnant, even when coupled with Clomid. I'm no longer able to take Metformin, apparently my blood sugar has evened out over the years even though they still consider me to have PCOS.

I haven't had any side effects with Femara! I've talked with my RE about side effects later like in regards to baby, and he said it hasn't been documented to cause birth defects, and the one study done on it was completely flawed, and considered inaccurate.

I'm definitely going to stick with it since I actually ovulate on it (with help of Menopur injections) and there are no side effects. Clomid was absolutely horrendous for me! Good luck to you next cycle!

thanks you afor the responces!!
i went in on the first day of my period (sorry i dont know all the slang terms everone uses onthis site haha!)
and had an ultra sound, and i had a cyst... so now my doc has put me on one month of birth control! exaclty what i did not want to happen! anyway, now when i get my next period in one month, ill go get another ultrasound and if the cyst has gone away (praying it does) then i can start the letrozole... so one more month of waiting for me! :(
i was so dissapointed but theres nothing i can do but hope the cyst goes away...

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you get to start next month. Plans changed a little for me too... I randomly ovulated on my own for the first time in 5 years yesterday. If I don't get a BFP this cycle though I still plan to start the Letrozole next cycle. I figure the worst it can do is help. AF is due around the 3rd/4th and I plan to start it on CD3. Although hopefully I get my BFP and won't need to lol. But I don't anticipate it to happen since this is my first real cycle in years.

Hello I'm 24 with pcos also starting femara next month just looking for buddies who are going thur the same as me!

I'm 26. I was TTC for 2 years. I have PCOS. I didn't get periods without Provera. I was on metformin. Clomid didn't work for me at all. My 3rd cycle of Femara with ovulation I got pregnant. Sadly we lost a twin at 9 weeks but my surviving twin was born at 25 weeks (all unrelated to the Femara)!

I have a beautiful (tiny) healthy baby girl! I hope you get your bfp soon. :)
