Hello!
I've been away from here for a while as I was finding it too difficult, but now I'm back, after finally getting somewhere with the doctors. :)
I'm waiting for AF so I can start taking my first round of Clomid. Feeling really excited (of course!) but incredibly nervous. It's quite scary to think about what I'm going to put my body through, and to know that it could actually happen! I guess I've tried to desensitise myself from it, in order to get through, and now I almost feel unprepared! I know it may take a while, or not work, but still, it suddenly seems very immediate now.
We've been TTC #1 for 2 1/2 years, and were diagnosed with PCOS in 2010.
How do you all cope?! :D

I was nervous my first round of Clomid as well. I had heard scary stories and was actually pretty scared of starting it. The first month on, I did get a few side effects, some mood swings and very exaggerated 2ww symptoms. But I didn't O till very late in my cycle, so the doc bumped me up to 100 mg, and believe it or not, I had nearly no symptoms on 100mg and I did 3 rounds of it. I unfortunately had no luck with it, and my doctor has switched me to femara for next month.

Good luck on your first round!!! I was soooo excited to start clomid too and it is always scary to think of taking it for the first time. But it really wasn't that bad, the worst part was the hot flashes, but if you take your clomid at night you will sleep through most of the side effects. make sure and take it at the SAME time every single day. I got my bfp on my second round (but sadly miscarried). the second round I used preseed and soft cups, believe me, they work! You should give them a shot. We tried for 6 years and the combo with clomid, preseed and soft cups did the trick for us. When I do my third round of clomid I am going to do the same thing (I have PCOS too).

Good luck hun! Don't be too scared though, Clomid may just be your miracle pill to get you pregnant!! soft cups and preseed I am TELLING you! It keeps your OH's sperm pooled around your cervix, and you can keep them in for 12 hours. After the 12 hours remove it and then repeat the next time you BD (put one in right after BD it's nice cuz there is NO leaking and you can get up right away). Or you can have your OH deposit his semen into the cup then you can put it in...but what fun is that?!? lol GOOD LUCK HUN!!!:hugs:

Thankyou both for sharing your experiences. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one nervous about taking it Mammag. I'm trying to look at success stories to take my mind off the scary ones, but don't want to get my hopes up too much either. I'm sorry it didn't work for you, but glad the symptoms weren't too terrible. Fingers crossed for the Femara!

Thanks for the tips Kimiw! I'd already planned on using Pre-seed, but hadn't thought about soft cups. I shall definitely look into that! And I'll definitely try to take the Clomid at night - would never have thought of that. I'm so sorry to hear about your m/c, especially after so long. Wishing you the very best of luck with your third round, when are you starting?

I'm feeling more hopeful today and can't wait to start! Come on AF! (Not due for another 2wks)

Thanks again guys. :)

Good luck - I'm currently in my first cycle of Clomid. We've been trying for 13 months and so far have found no explanation for infertility. I lost our first baby - a girl - 2 years ago at 24 weeks; the reason for that loss is also unknown. Aside from a CP in April we've been unable to get a BFP. RE suggested Clomid with IUI but hubby was not ready for IUI so we did Clomid by itself. We plan to move on to IUI if this cycle is unsuccessful. My RE prescribed 50 mg...I took it days 5-9 of my cycle and O'd the very next day! I was NOT expecting to O so quickly! Now I'm on CD26 and waiting for AF (or a possible BFP) to show in the next few days. Honestly I had NO side effects and took my Clomid daily after breakfast. I was actually surprised because I'd heard so many horror stories but I guess it proves that everyone is different. Good luck to you. Hope the Clomid does the trick.

I am starting my third cycle at the end of september. My RE wanted me to wait at least one cycle to give my body a chance to heal from the m/c. And I don't want to give you false hope with the softcups cuz obviously it doesn't work for everybody but I truley believe that was what did the trick. Because, 3 years ago I did 6 rounds of Clomid and nothing. This time (three years later) nothing happend on the first round but on the second is when I added preseed and softcups and BAM PREGGO! So, I think that is why I am a firm believer lol, and I would feel selfish if I didn't share that little tip. And again, it may not work for you, but it isn't going to hurt to try :winkwink:. Good LUCK let me know how it goes!! Fingers crossed tightly!!

I'm on my first round of clomid. On CD 15. Took it CD 5-9. Had nothing interesting. If anything, it's subdued my moodiness. We'll see where it goes... GL to you.

Hi Daniii I'm on my first round of clomid, I'm CD12 today, took 50mg day 2-6 for unexplained infertility, I'm not having any monitoring, was just given 50mg to take for 6 months, next appointment in February so feeling a bit abandoned! I took it at night time, my main side effects were headaches while taking it & ongoing hot flushes & night sweats, some nausea which just means I'm eating less which can only be a good thing! I don't feel like myself but knowing that I'm finally doing something to help me get pregnant after over 2 years of heartache makes all the side effects bearable. Good luck x

Thanks for sharing your experiences Ladies. :)
My 'trigger shot' arrived today, which I'm dreading. :( Have any of you had to use one alongside the Clomid? I don't have to use it unless the first month of Clomid doesn't work, which I'm still waiting to start.
Little nervous about the side effects too, especially the migraines and nausea, which I'm prone to anyway, but it seems to be entirely down to the individual, so hopefully I'll be as lucky as some of you!
Also, did any of you do anything else while you were/ are taking Clomid? I mean like altering your diet, or exercise, or taking extra vitamins/ supplements? Been thinking about it a little this week. We just plan to cut out caffeine and alcohol (well mostly!), try to eat well and exercise and get plenty of sleep.

Hope you're all well and I hope to hear some good news soon!
