So I have an HSG scheduled for Monday and I'm very nervous about it. I have been reading stories on here about people being in so much pain, so people say it's like a period cramp. I'm hoping that it doesn't hurt really bad for me....any advice before the big day?

Hiya, I had mine a couple of months ago, it was over in about 40 seconds, I wont like it does hurt but it is over so quickly. Take some pain releif an hour beforehand, but really its not so bad.. I am a total baby with pain, so if I can do it anyone can, its very quick. x

take some pain killers beforehand and try to relax and breathe deeply, i found mine didnt hurt at all, was uncomfortable and felt some pressure but it didnt hurt for me and i dont deal with pain very well

Thanks for the advice! Hope mine goes as well as yours seem to have gone!
=D

I had mine this summer and it wasn't too bad! They had me take pain meds before I went in, and I suppose that helped some. It was uncomfortable, but tolerable :)

Thanks! I don't expect it to be comfortable ... nothing OBGYN related is!!! :haha:
Tolerable is comforting though!

I had mine just over a month ago. I had read lots of horror stories on here & had taken 2 paracetamol & 2 ibuprofen before going in & when they called me into the room I was shaking and crying. The doctor told me off (in a nice way) for googling things and reassured me that she had done 5 of them the day before and 3 ladies had felt nothing & 2 felt only mild discomfort. It lasted about 5 mins from them laying me on the bed to me gettin up again at the end. I literally didn't feel a thing & was really laughing at myself afterwards for having got so worked up! I would have another of those before I had another smear test! Don't fret!! X

Thanks for the very comforting story. Most likely I will be just like that ... laughing afterwards because I was being a big baby about it in the beginning!

Lol. Made me laugh. Thanks again!
