So overall, i'm fat aka OBESE, and have to lose 10-25 pounds, joyous. Love hearing that I am fat. And I get all kinds of blood work next month on 3rd day of AF, then I can go onto IUI or IVF...any one have luck with one more than the other?? I have to pay out of pocket, so I dont know...ugh!

Is there any reason they are saying you have to do IUI or IVF instead of some other sort of treatment, if available? Did they talk to you about trying any fertility medication or doing an HSG to check your tubes first?
I'm sure they don't mean anything by saying you are overweight. It is a concern for a lot of REs because it can cause problems in getting pregnant and losing a little bit of weight can help boost fertility.
Sorry you have to pay out of pocket. I think more insurance companies should pay for fertility treatments. If you don't mind my asking, what state do you live in? Some states have infertility mandates that insurance companies have to cover certain treatments. I think like 14 states have this.
Hopefully you get things figured out so that you can get your BFP soon. Sending you lots of :dust:!

HI! I just had my 1st FS appt today. I am overweight myself but doc said nothing about it. He put me on Metformin and said that should help. I am day 23 in a 29 day cycle. We have had our 21 day blood work and done the clomid thing. Hubbs had a sa so we are getting the fast track luckily. Instead of clomid since it didnt work for us he put us on something called Letrozole....did your doc say anything about that?

Ive been on clomid for a year, which I guess if it doesn't work in 3 months, than its most likely not going to work period so my OB/GYN is numb I suppose. I had a HSG in November and that all came back normal, my husbands SA was all normal..should have said that all in the post, but I was in a rant haha We live in Maine, my insurance covers nothing infertility.:nope:

Sorry to hear that nothing has worked for you so far. I did read that Maine was one state looking to pass state mandated insurance for infertility so that may be a possibility in the future but hopefully you get your BFP before that! :hugs: Sorry you have to deal with this. I don't think anyone should have to pay to have a baby when they are already paying for insurance...it should be covered IMO.

our insurance only covers to find out whats wrong and nothing else!! Its total b.s.! my friend cked her ins. and they dont cover either....but the do cover abortions?!?! WTF is that about?! Is an RE your regular ob? or a specialist? While its fresh in my mind I will tell you our fs specialist isnt a fan of clomid. He said there are many other drugs more effective. Like I said we did clomid and it didnt work for us ( I know it has for others!) Have they dx you w pcos or anything like that? Big girls get preggers all the time so they cant use that as the only reason. I mean we all know it affects it. Just wondering if they have cked for pcos at all?
