Hello my name is jamilla and I'm 24! My girlfriend and I are looking into buying a house together next summer and starting our own family..she currently has children from a previous marriage with her ex husband but I have a feeling this will be a completely different experience..is there any advice you all could give me..I don't want to move to fast because we want to wait a year but I can't help myself..we've had several conversations on how we want things to be.and I know it will be difficult because my family is against homosexuality.is there any advice that u all who currently have children can give.does it change the relationship or does it affect the children who were there prior too?.. Just curious..I want to know what I'm getting myself into..lol

We don't have kids yet (we ARE trying), but I wanted to comment anyway. The truth is that modern families come in all different configurations. Today's family units look so different from one to the next; single moms or dads, step parents, half siblings, grandparents raising their grand kids. Same sex parents are just another variation...a family is what you make it and yours will be a beautiful one! Good Luck!

There's a cute childrens book with the theme.

You're so right and thank you for commenting..I'm so excited..how is your journey coming along!? Has it been difficult or everything you've expected?.

Children are amazing little things and can help bring families together regardless of the situation. Good luck with your journey!:flower:

Things are going well. We are on our second try..on the first we lost it at 6 wks after getting pregnant on the first try. With that one our HCG levels never quite doubled and then at 6wks dropped and we lost it. We just got the positive on the test yesterday for our 2nd try and will be going in to check hcg levels, hopefully tomorrow, so more to come on that!
