Hi all - I hope that the ladies I have diescussed this with on other posts will find it... I wasn't really sure where to post so I started a new thread...

I thought I’d update you after my fs appt. Firstly, I didn’t see the lovely lady Doctor I saw initially; instead I saw a male who was less lovely - seemed less knowledgeable and altogether less concerned :growlmad: OH’s SA was “fine” He didn’t elaborate and I didn’t push it – I hope I won’t live to regret that… My bloods (3 months worth) show borderline results and so I am still not sure hether I always o/v or not. Dr’s view was let’s treat it as though you don’t o/v and start you on clomid. I will start in Aug as it’s too late this cycle and try it for 3 months. If that doesn’t work, I don’t know what will happen next but I guess we will have to consider IUI privately. I did ask for a copy of the criteria for IVF and it seems as though I may have a problem as they won’t consider you until you have been TTC for 3 years and at the time of starting the treatment you would need to be 34 (which I will no longer be). Anyway, it’s all a bit confusing so I will read it more thoroughly when I get home and ask my GP for advice if it’s still not clear. I was a little disheartened that the FS didn’t want to discuss any of the other points I raised; i.e. what if I have an inhospitable womb and I’m killing the sperm before it has a chance to find my egg! I suppose to get someone who is that thorough then I would have to go privately…

So, I will probably have a ton of q’s about clomid now; any pointers / experiences would be good to know. I need to start with OPK’s again so that I can time my blood test right but in the past I have had no luck with them at all. (Using the cheap ones from Access Diagnosis) Any suggestions regarding that and please remind me what day I should start testing?

Oh, one other thing; FS did mention that a lot of people have success after an HSG, even if there were no blockages found. I am keeping my fingers x’ed for everyone who has had one recently.

X

hey hun,

how long hav u bn ttc if u dont mind me askin?
we have been ttc for 14 months. im just waiting to have my day 21 bloods done on the 6th aug, then we go bk to FS. had hsg h2b SA, swabs and so far all good but not sure about my bloods yet. I literally finding it hard to wait so i've asked for the bloods that have been done so far to go to my Gp.

Hope the clomid helps u hun, and they do say that a hsg can sumtimes help for first 3 cycles

Hi. This is our 16th cycle since mmc. I know what you mean about waiting, if you can get the results from your GP in the mean time it helps though mine didn't want to diagnose as such, which is fair enough. Thanks, I oo am hoping that clomid gives us our BFP. This is the most hopeful I have felt since the mmc! Let me know how you are getting on. X

Hiya. Glad you're feeling more positive, at least you're moving in the right direction now :-) I had 3 rounds of clomid at 50mg, then a lap and dye, then 3 rounds of clomid at 100mg... and then fell pregnant the next (untreated) cycle. Did you have an HSG already? As you said, they do seem to help a bit in a lot of cases.

I didn't have any luck with the Access Diagnostic opks, btw - they never quite gave me a positive reading, even when the more expensive were giving me a very clear positive. If they don't seem to be doing the trick definitely try using a different brand at the same time to compare and contrast!

I got my results from my FS last week too, she wasn't that good TBH, she wasn't confident, kept talking my results to herself and when she did talk to me she was talking very fast so I couldn't tell what she was saying. I wasn't impressed and I'm going to see my doc and ask her if I can go get my results again but from someone else. She did say that I had a blocked tube and would refer me for IVF without even trying clomid. Not impressed! :( X

That'll be good that you can start clomid soon :) fingers crossed that does the trick x

It makes me mad that there doesn't seem to be a measurable standard we can expect from FS's; it seems that we wait and wait and wait - and when we finally get referred then eventually get an appt. it's the luck of the draw / post cde as to how good the FS is. The care we receive has such a massive impact on the end result, it really shouldn't be taken so lightly :hissy: Sorry, shall jump down off my soap box but agree you should ask to get your results from someone else! Is ther no mention of trying to unblock your tube? I really know nothing about it but one would assume this should be considered? X

Hi Toptack. I have 6 unbranded tests to use up and will then move on to some more expensive ones. I have until the start of next cycle (clomid cycle)! to decide exactly what to do but at this stage I am not ruling anything out - temping, preseed, OPK's, grapefruit juice, green tea - bring it on! Of course though the most important thing here is :sex: and so I am hoping my OH is up for it every 3 days, as the FS suggested. I may be breaking a taboo here and i know if my OH knew I'd written this he'd be furious but that can be an issue sometimes; he hates the regimented approach and sadly, it's like that quite a lot these days. I want a baby more than anything in the world and second to that, I want my sex life back  Sorry if too much info! X

No offer apart from IVF, I haven't a clue what's going on anymore, I'm frightened to death and don't know whether to keep the tube or have it removed/unblocked, whether I can have IVF as the liquid that leaks from it can kill embryos arghhhhhh, I know what you mean honey grrrr! X I'm gonna see my GP and see if I can see a different FS X

I feel bad for you, you shouldn't hav to be worrying about these things yourself. I hope you can get a second opinion... X
