Thanks girls

Do all cereals contain iron? I could do that :D

I eat a lot of pasta and rice ...maybe Ill get some cashews & dried fruits for snacks too just to have some topups.

I don't have an asda near me and do my shopping at tesco online ...might look whats in boots at the iron %

when i was pg my iron tablets made me sick so the dr changed them to a diffrent type and they were fine? aside from that eat cabbage, and spinch! works for pop eye!

not sure if you can stomach this stuff.. i know i can't.. but it's called Cream of Wheat and my mom eats it because she has low iron.. it's oatmealish but not good oatmeal or atleast imo... lol. i always add some brown sugar to it!

there's the site for the info about the iron! not even sure if you have it over there!

If you eat raw spinach, about once a day, you'll notice an improvement. I'm anaemic pre-pregnancy, and would try to get a spinach salad in (tastes really good with almonds and mandarin orange slices :)) daily. Cooking vegetables usually lowers the amount of nutrients you're getting out of them, so either steam them or eat them raw with dip or dressing. If I'm really low I'll eat a massive steak, lol, and can feel the difference right away.

My midwife told me frosted shreddies or plain ones were good
orange juice helps the apsorption of iron try taking the spatone i OJ i used too :) x

Also - from a study I just found - apparently kellogg's 19, and TOTAL both have 18mg per serving which is quite high compared to the other cereals they compared in there...

i was given ferrous sulphate iron tablets not long ago and i took them twice and they made me really sick, i now take pregaday and i seem to be ok with them. i was told by the consultant that just eating iron rich foods wouldnt raise my iron levels quick enough. xxx

Wobs I spoke to my MW today about this and she says take the pre-natal vitamins that have some iron in them? Could try that?

Lentil soup is yummy and has iron in
Meat
Brocolli etc

Think its all been covered...

FROSTIES AND CORNFLAKES HAVE 8 MG OF IRON PER 35G BOWL. I have them before i go to bed. and only drink water afterwards.

Iron is hard to absorb, so dont drink tea or coffee when your eating iron rich foods.
They contain tanin with prevents iron from being absorbed.
Drink fresh Orange juice/cranberry juice when your eating your dinner as vit c help iron absorb.
