To those of you who already have children, did you conceive as easily this time as you did with your other babies? Do you feel age played a part this time or not?

The reason I ask, is that we are considering ttc number three in a few years time (hubbie point blank refuses to consider any earlier!:nope: grr), so I will be around 35/36 then. I got pregnant first time trying with both my other two but do realise that fertility does decline round your mid 30s onwards. So I was just wondering if you found it more difficult to concieve this time round?

I just turned 35 and getting preggers was just as easy this time as my other two. I know we are fortunate and blessed; if anything, we are too fertile. I got pregnant the first time in one month, second time I never even got my period between the first and second. Third time we were planning to start trying in August, but I went off the pill in Feb and we were pregnant in April. We are done after this and taking permanent measures. We are happy, and I feel for those couples with fertility issues.

I conceived my daughter when I was 26. It took four years ttc, an exploratory laparoscopy and clomid. I was told I wouldn't be able to have any more children. Imagine my surprise when I discovered at age 35 that I am pregnant with twins!! I wanted another child more than anything, I just never expected it to happen.

My first pregnancy was on the first try at 34, without knowing much about ovulation, etc. This pregnancy was on cycle #2, temping/OPKs, softcups, and preseed. At 38, I don't know if they were necessary, but thought it couldn't hurt to give myself every advantage I could. :)

With DS1, at the age of 32 it happened first try. With this one at age of 38, happened first go. Can even pinpoint when they both happened.
I just need a sniff of it....lol

Igot pregnant without trying at 22, 24 and 25! At 35/36 it took almost a year but we weren't doing all the charting and stuff just trying to remember not to get too tired in the end of the month! Don't know if it was my age that was the issue or DH's stamina...he's 10 years older than me! xxx

hi,
I got pregnant very easily at age 31 and 32, then bang 3 miscarriages at ages 38,41 and again at 44.
Did not want "treatments" if it was going to happen it was going to have to happen naturally. At my age that would be miraculous!
Had a routine laparoscopy became pregnant 8 months later but miscarried when I was 44, then became pregnant the following year and hoping to give birth in another 2 months!
Another boy! just before my 46th birthday!
I have 2 teenage boys 15 and 13 next birthdays!
My eldest is excited in his mild way of expression, my other son is seemingly nonchalant but maybe this is his boyish way of showing his feelings.
they both like to feel the baby (we've called him george in the meantime) move and kick.
My boys are sweet they are not sure what/how they are supposed to react to all this, but they do willingly help out much more in the house.

I became pregnant very fast at 22 and 23, but 17 years later it took us 19 months to conceive, which we did, just before my 40th birthday. I think it was partly the age of my eggs but also an "issue" my hubby has which is why it took so long. According to www.fertilityfriend.com (a brilliant website for ttc'ers) 60% of over 35's will manage conception within 2 years.

with my first (my daughter) I wasn't trying LOL...she was an "ooooppss!" baby...the only time we didn't use protection it happened ...Fast forward to 21 years later and it took me quite a bit, just got successful with IVF :D

I was watching that programme today, she sure seems to spit them out!! x

Thanks girls, that is really useful. It seems there is wide range of experience here. I hope when we decide to ttc number three (hopefully, if I can convince hubbie!), we fall easily and have a happy and healthy baby. If not, we do have two lovely, healthy boys whom I am very grateful for.

Good luck with your pregnancies girls.

xxx

Got easily pregnant at the ageof 20, 21 & 23... then a surprise bfp at 39, then again at 40 but miscarried at 9wks then bfp again with my 1st af after miscarriage two days before my 41st birthday and due soon :happydance:

Did take Soy Isoflavone supplements on both my last bfp's for a healthier egg.

This is my 3rd pregnancy and with DS1 fell first month at 34 and with DS2 it took 2 months at 36 and with this one it's taken a good year at 38, so I do think that age plays a big part in ttc x

I had both when i was 21 10 mths apart took 4yrs to concieve this one at 40 due sunday

I TTC my DD for 18 months 12 years ago, then I got caught month 2 with my DS who is now 9. Now all those years later I got caught by accident month 2 after stopping the pill I was waiting to have a coil fitted and my period never came. It has been the biggest shock and blessing now I have finally got my head around it, though the morning sickness has been horrendous.! Lol

Well i have 6 children. 3 of which i had when i was in my late teens and early twenties. I conceived them as easily as i did with my dd and ds at 39 and then 40. My dd, who is 4 months took a little while longer...3 months and a miscarriage inbetween. I have always conceived within a month or two of trying. I am 43. I do think i took longer to conceive [ although still short but longer for me] because of my age and i think the miscarriage was also sadly a sign of my age.

Took 9 months to conceive baby no.1. I was age 30 and had been taking the contraceptive pill. Took one attempt with baby no.2 and same with this one. I am 35 now. Hope that helps and good luck.
