My little one has been breast fed from the start and has always been good at latching on despite having mild tongue tie (which we are hoping to get corrected this week). The last couple of days he seems to have forgotten how to latch on, he takes ages trying and failing and when he finally manages it, it is often painful so suggests he is not on properly!

Any advice appreciated!

As he is getting bigger now, it may be affecting the way your nipple feels in his mouth, especially with the tie. Maybe try sandwiching your breast, and helping to get more nipple into his mouth.

Learning to feed is quite an art! For both of you!

You may well find that things get better instantly following the tongue clip. But in the meantime, things that can help awaken the feeding instinct include

* Skin to skin
* Co-sleeping
* A warm bath (recreating womb like sensations)
* Sling (esp a soft cloth one such as a stretchy wrap)
* A baby moon (where you go to bed for a day with baby).

Maybe others have better suggestions?
