i have a 2 wk old baby who is very windy and it seems to be causing him pain. he is on the first aptamil formula but was thinking of changing to cow & gate comfort milk for colicy babies. i might even change his bottles to dr browns. can anybody plz advise me. i just want to make him more comfortable!

Changing to Dr. Browns is a good decision. Did u try infacol? Mine was colicy at birth, & we used infacol. It needs 1 wk to start working.

I LOVE the Dr. Browns, they are a pain to clean, but they made a huge difference with Mika.

They certainly don't work for everyone, and I and several others have noticed a little bit of leaking as they are being shaken up (to be fair, the Dr. Browns instructions say to stir rather than shake), but it might be worth it to buy one or two to try, I certainly wouldn't stock up before you see if they make a difference though. I don't know if they are as expensive in the UK, but at $5 apiece they are pretty expensive in the US.

Wow, They sell TT for $6.8 here! Dr. Browns is $ 15!

Aptamil also make a comfort milk for colicky babies (also for constipation)
Might be worth talking to your HV first tho before changing milks

my little girl became very un-settled at 2 weeks on aptamil due to wind and then constipation..tried her on the C&G comfort but made no difference so i tried her on Hipp Organic and she was a different baby, constipation cleared and wind started coming up so a change of milk may work...

Maybe switch to an organic milk like Hipp and change bottle especially if you're using Avent they are poo. NUK or Dr Brown are best. NUK seem cheaper and not as hard to clean they have good reviews.

Colief drops can work too....they are expensive, but you can get them on prescription if you tell them you've tried them and they've made a difference.

They didn't work with my last baby, but have made a difference to this lo...also use infacol too, and i just put one dropper full in the actual bottle (a MW told me to do this 11 years ago with my first baby) as it pops some of the bubbles in the bottle before they get swallowed in the first place.

Hope your lo improves when you decide which changes to put in place.

Good luck xxx

Ella was the same - she is on cow and gate comfort with Dr Browns and she is so much better (she was showing signs of colic every evening before using TT bottles).
Dr Browns were life savers with my son before as well, don't know why we bought TT to be honest.
Dr Browns might be £ but worth every penny.
Infacol did nothing for Ella, she just learnt her bottle was on the way when she had the drops!
Gripe water worked on my son (think it is from 4 weeks up) but TBH having tried all sorts with Ella she seems better off without any drops etc... they seem to make her sick.
You can never get all of the wind out of her!
I find laying her on her tummy half hour after a feed across my lap and gently rubbing her back in circles brings up gentle burps and really calms a colic baby.
