I made jimmy dean sausage bits with egg for breakfast and didn't notice it said use by: aug 12
It was completely closed and looked totally normal, but now I'm freaking out it'll harm my baby :( I'm 38 weeks and 5 days.

woah.. thats a bit out of date.. but.. personally i think if you feel fine in the enxt 24 hours.. you and baby will be fine.. Im not a doctor but i wouldnt be too worried if everything looked/smelt fine. was it frozen or fresh?

I really wouldn't worry if it looked, smelt and tasted ok I would say it was ok! I know
People who used to work in meat factories and they said not to take Much notice of dates as they used to hae out of date thing sent back and they would re stamp new dates on!! Scary stuff. But honestly wouldn't worry as meat normally turns funny if its off!

^^
Agreed. If it smelled and tasted fine, than it most likely is perfectly fine.

Also, by cooking it most likely you would have killed the microbes on and in it.

cooking it would really have helped.. and alot of the time (most of the time infact) companies will mark the EXP date as much farther before the actual date because it covers their asses in the event of something going wrong. try not to panic, i bet you and baby will be fine. <3

If it was frozen I don't think I would worry too much. And as other posters said it would have smelled really bad it something was wrong with it.

Was it frozen? If so, I wouldn't worry. I can't imagine that if it wasn't frozen it wouldn't of smelled horribly bad. But if you're not feeling sick, then it's probably fine! I ate some really cheap sausage yesterday that made me feel weak, sick and shaky all day. I think it was the nitrates!
