Frijj milkshakes

Was in my local supermarket yesterday and there was a notice recalling a batch of Frijj milkshakes because of a chance of listeria

I think it's all ok now and was just one batch (it's in some news stories) but was just such a shock as we all know about listeria etc but I never really expected to see a sign like that if that makes sense

I seen yesterday they were recalling just the strawberry ones in my local Morrisons but it didnt say why. I thought it was strange plus dont usually people buy them and then drink them straight away? I do.

I drink them loads as they are always on offer so me and Phoebe share them.

Eek scary though.

I have been making my own strawberry milkshakes - strawberry ice cream, milk and a teeny bit of nesquik strawberry powder.

I'm addicted to them!

I heard this on the radio the other day. It said any strawberry flavour ones with a best before date of 5th April (I think) should be returned. I was like, if I'd bought one, I'd have drank it pretty much straight away! It would be too late! Scary stuff

I'm worried about this now. I drank a strawberry Friij the other day. Apparently you don't necessarily show symptoms of listeriosis rightaway, it can take up to 30 days

This is the statement on the FSA website:

Risk: Dairy Crest Ltd is recalling one batch of FRijj Thick and Fresh Strawberry Milkshake as a precautionary measure due to the presence of low levels of Listeria monocytogenes.

Product: Frijj Thick & Fresh Strawberry Milkshake, 500ml
Use by date: 5 April 2011

Action taken by the company: The company has recalled the affected product from consumers and issued a press release. Recall notices have also been issued explaining the reason for recall and the actions consumers can take if they have bought the affected product. A copy of the product recall notice issued by Dairy Crest Ltd can be viewed via the link below.

No other Dairy Crest Ltd products are known to be affected.

I would say if you are concerned to visit your doctor or mention it the the midwife. I think there is very little chance of getting listeriosis as it only mentions low levels.
