What can I expect from this first appoinment?
Is my OH meant to come with me?
I think he has his own referral but I'm not 100%

I'm also having my first bloods taken on Monday
Will the FS want to repeat these or look into something else?

My OH is having his SA appointment sent through the post
We're expecting a wait of a week or two for that?
Will the FS ask for that to be repeated?

So many questions!

Yay! My appointment said specifically that both partners have to attend all appointments (I figure to make sure both parties are serious about having a child). I can't really help with your other questions. I think they'll pass on the test results to your consultant as these are tests requested by the consultant. Depending on the reason for seeing them there may be other tests. Good luck!

I know the excitement. I had my first FS visit 4 weeks ago, I couldn't sleep the night before. My DH went with me because he had questions of his own, I would suggest your DH go with you for support as well. I had labs done between days 21-25 of AF and day 3 of actual AF, to test progestorone levels, FSH, and LH levels. Depending on those results we were going to move forward with hormone treatments. But today I got my results and everything came back normal and good, next step is a hysterosalpingogram x-ray test to make sure tubes aren't blocked and a semen analysis for my DH. I hate all this waiting, lol.

Good luck to you and make sure you ask lots of questions. I sure bombarded my FS with them, hahaha.

PS. Dr also prescribed metformin

Yeay! Congratulations! I think you should definatley bring your bloke. I wasn't going but was relieved that he did as the FS had questions for him also. One word of warning though, I thought it was just going to be a chat but it wasn't. They did something similar to a smear test and had a feel round my insides. All in front of DH! - Horrified!! Was motified as I hadn't de fuzzed and had also the night before! Had I know about the internal examination I'd had made downstairs more welcoming!!

They'll then talk you through the test they want to perform at later dates. They made it sound like everything would happen quickly, but when we went to reception there was a massive blacklog and our follow up isnt until Nov Having said said I'm now booked in for a HSG on Tuesday after only trying twice which isn't bad going in my area!

Good luck for your first appointment!
I was told that DH had to come with me. We didn't do much the first one - got DH's SA results and re-did my FSH blood test. Went through background - how long ttc, history of endo, etc.
Next appointment is in a couple of weeks.

I told him everything, any pains or weird symptoms, everything. I asked what the causes of infertility where? What the lab test were for? After the lab test come back, what happens next? What do my results have to be in order to get on Clomid? What can we do to improve sperm count? What time of day is better to try to conceive? Are there any vitamins in specific that help fertility?

He prescribed metformin, he said sometimes that helps to conceive, He also told us to buy Proxeed for my husband. He recommeded we be more active, cut down on caffeine. No alcohol for the hubby. He said morning time was the best to try to conceive, because his lil swimmers are more awake.

Just write down anything that comes to mind and take the questions with you.

Was all of this with the actual FS? or was the chat/questions etc with a gyne nurse? We got referred but we had to make an appointment and see a gyne nurse first to go thu our ttc history etc and i had to have std swaps taken but this wasn't with the actual FS, we seen the nurse 3 weeks ago and should be getting a letter telling us when our appointment with the FS is any day this week. but i didn't kno about them wanting to take swabs i thought it was just for a chat and obv because i didn't prepare myself for them lol.. :$ i opted to get them taken at my docs instead which the nurse was fine about, so i would be prepared for them to mabye want to do that.

Hi!

I had my first FS appointment last month - my DH came with me as they make a point of saying you are in this together and I am so glad that he was there. They took all his details own after me and have asked him to have another SA - his last one was 1 year ago.

When I was there they did a chlamydia test which they say is routine, I have to have a day 21 blood test and then finally the fallopian tube test but it's a bit frustrating as they had no appointments free for this month - I just wanna get it all out the way...especially as FS told me this test can leave you highly fertile for 3 months after....sweet!
Then after all this my next appointment with FS to talk through results and what the next steps are is at the end of July.

My FS was lovely, hope yours is too.

Our appointment was today, a nurse took our height, weight and blood pressure, the we saw the consultant (who I'd seen before but she didn't have those notes) and went over our medical history, pregnancies, looked at my BBT charts and in our case decided it would be more appropriate to see a miscarriage specialist as we don't need fertility treatment. So waiting for yet another appointment (guessing that'll be 3/4 months wait) but did get miscarriage blood tests done today.
Hope your appointment is more productive than ours!
