Does anyone do anything apart from the average:

* putting a sign out for santa so he knows where to stop

* leaving a mince pie and a carrot by the fireplace

* ringing a lil bell in the morning and rushing into their room 'pretending' it musta been santa leaving

* having their own tree with little decorations

I really wanna make christmas special this year now my lil one is old enough to understand

I don't have kids yet, but one year I'm planning to make OH dress up as Santa and go into the LO's room and drop something really loudly so they wake up and actually meet Santa :D that might be a terrible idea but I like it lol:haha:

Also, Primark has a letter writing set especially for Santa, and John Lewis has a special post box set up in December for the kids to post their letters.

It doesn't take much to get kids excited about Santa, just talk to them about it.

Sorry, I wrote that assuming you were from the UK for the letter thing; but if you're not I'm sure you could get something like that where you live.

Writing a letter to Santa! I know in Canada the postal code is cute, it's like H0H 0H0

Going to pick out a (real) Christmas tree?!

Also we have two christmas trees in our house, one in our living room and one in the den..my mom used to get us to make ornaments for the tree for the den :)

Im trying to think bout all the fun things I used to do at nursery at her age. Am sure she will be doing the same things herself. She will be coming home teaching me how to make decorations (I hope anyway hehe) xxx

What about letting her put the angel/star whatever goes on top of your tree?

As kids we had to take turns (and always fought over it!) ... my dad would pick one of us up to place the tree-topper angel :)

we have "a magical elf" from north pole come to stay and he reports back to santa what they are doing. (google magic elf tradition).

OH's sister always bought a tub of glitter and they'd sprinkle it all over the garden so Santa saw where to stop

How about also getting them a letter from Santa sent to them - there are some on eBay (or you could make it yourself)

I'm planning on putting glitter around the fireplace - proof that Santa came down the chimney and dropped some of his magic dust!

Take them to Santa's gotto in the shopping centre.

I know Harvey's way too young for it this year but I couldn't resist and bought The Night Before Christmas. It'll be his bedtime story every Christmas eve until he's old enough to read it to me.

i love this site

or which is brilliant special on christmas eve

Mix porridge oats with glitter to make magic reindeer food..it looks fab and magical!

Use Wellies and sprinkle talk and glitter and leave footprints on hard floors or around the fireplace.

Track Santa on Christmas Eve theres a website that tells you were in the world he is and where he has been. (Ooops it's the link above)

Make your own cookies for Santa it's so easy to do..they will luv it.

Make their own Christmas cards.

Thanks everyone.. Theres some great ideas here. Im off to google ;)
xxxxxx

when my brother and i were little, we used to go to the bathroom before going to bed to listen to see if we could hear santa on his way. My dad had rigged up a bell outside the bathroom window using fishing wire. We would stand there and listen really carefully and when we hear the jingle of the bell we would know we had to get into bed quickly so that we were asleep before santa arrived!

A family friend used to call us a week before xmas too and pretend to be santa- he would quote things off our lists we had sent to santa and asked us if we had been good this year. It was lovely- he is a real good actor and does all sorts of accents and voices and we had NO idea it was him!

For my little brother one year.......we cut out a footprint shape and made 'snow' foot prints around the tree and near the mince pie made from talcum powder......he was amazed!!! Mum made a fuss about "how much mess Santa made!!!"

This only works with young kids as older ones will know its talcum powder!!
