Anyone had fybroids and if so what was your experience & did they play a part in your infertility? Thanks ladies

Hays - I had two fibroids in my uterus, one the size of a small egg. I have been seeing an RE on and off for about a year, dh and I took some time off and got restarted with treatment in February of this year. Through ultrasound monitoring at the re we knew I had one fibroid, and my doctor said it wouldn't prevent me from getting pregnant. But after almost a year and many normal tests my doctor suggested a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. The lap was to see if I had any endometrosis, which they found and removed stage 3. And the hysteroscopy was to remove the fibroids, which there ended up being another one in there. My doctor said that fibroids grow when you get pregnant so since we were doing the lap he said to go ahead and get rid of the fibroids at the same time.

I am only one full cycle out after the surgery and didn't get pregnant. So we will see what happens this cycle!

Good luck!!

thanks for your reply chick!

I am going to ask to be checked for fybroids, might explain the pain i've been experiencing with my periods lately.

Good luck too !

I had my fibroids removed in march. I was diagnosed with them 2 years ago and repeatedly told that they were not in a location to prevent pregnancy. I had 2 mc's so they thought i could get pregnant. After going to fs for 5 months and several procedures later..hsg, saline ultrasound (that proved the best diagnostic tool) my fs told me i needed the a myomectomy. i found a really good surgeon and he found 3 fibroids after doing a mri to prepare for the surgery. That surgery was the best decision i ever made!! my periods were absolutely horrible!!! i would hemorhage and bleed like crazy with blood clots for the first cd. I would have to take vicodin to just take the edge off the pain!!! Now my periods barely cramp and i bleed normally. It is so nice!

So my advice to you is IF you really suspect your fibroids are the problem, ask for a saline ultrasound. Mine was in a spot that looked ok in the hsg and regular ultrasounds but it was laying on the lining and ended up taking up half the lining in my uterus!! without the saline ultrasound, we would have never known. So i wish i would have done that one first and skipped the cost of the hsg!

how are you periods?

Thanks hun! My periods are getting worse, but not so much the bleeding, its the pain thats horrendous!

I had fibroids that were located inside and outside of my uterus, I had them removed due to not getting pg and really heavy periods. I had an abdominal myomectomy and they removed 9. I'm not pg yet but my periods and the extreme pain I experienced during ovulation is no more. If you suspect you have them have your dr take a look.

honestly, i had really painful periods for years. The heavy bleeding and clotting didn't start until last year with and occasional one every few months. so i think i got rid of mine right when they were getting really bad. I read somewhere that your uterus acts likes its in labor when you have a fibroid and tries to spasm and push the fibroid out. I always felt my uterus spasming all the way to the vagina sometimes!! no joke!

same here, i get throbbing contracting pains too! hmmm i defo need a scan!
