Starting a few weeks ago, I've been getting very uncomfortable pain that is on the right side of my back and wrapping around my ribs to down below my breastbone. Not much seems to help: massage, heating pad, Tylenol. It seems to happen after eating a meal. My mother (a former nurse) is wondering if it could be gallbladder related. She and my dad and three of my grandparents had theirs out. However, I'm a generally healthy eater and rarely have bad fats or fried foods, which is what I thought could cause attacks. I don't eat meat and the only dairy I have is Greek yogurt and sometimes cheese. I do eat eggs, but usually every other day at most, and no more than two at a time. Anyway, I'm waiting to hear back from my midwife and was hoping for some feedback or opinions. Thanks!

Please, any advice is appreciated. The midwife said to see my PCP, but I actually don't have one. The earliest it seems I can be seen as a new client at most places is in 4 weeks. I went to a MedExpress and they spoke with the midwives and came to an agreement that I should go to the ER but I feel ridiculous doing that!

I would say a trip to the ER is warranted if you don't have a PCP
. It could be your gall bladder, or liver. They can run blood tests for liver function and ultrasound your gall bladder. Hope you get some relief.

Hello

I had to have my gall bladder out last summer! The pain felt was absolutely awful every episode I had! I wasn't pregnant at the time but I had t long had my daughter. I was on NHS waiting list to have gall bladder out and it got so bad that I ended up with pancrititisis which is life threatening so had to have gall bladder out straight away!

Don't leave it and make sure you see a doctor asap! Avoid foods with fat and sugar as it triggers it.

Go to the hospital if u haven't already, with my second pregnancy I was having the same pain you are describing drs wrote if off to a foot or something BUT after I had my DD I began having awful attacks, I finally one night couldn't take it any more and the pain was soooo severe I spent a week in the hospital on New Years and had my gallbladder taken out. Pain was sooo bad! GL!! Yes avoid fatty foods until u figure out what it is.

UPDATE: I ended up finding a PCP that could see me a couple days after MedExpress. He prescribed me an ultrasound, which I was able to get later that same day! The ultrasound came up clear (and the technician even let me see my little guy briefly!). The pain hasn't been as bad and I've even had a couple pain-free days regardless of my diet. After doing more internet research, I think I'm basically having rib pain from a combination of gas and everything being smooshed more than usual! I find that if I do some good stretches and use Tylenol/Tums/Gas-X things are pretty good!
