GD - raised overnight and fasting levels

I had a few higher fasting levels (5.2mmol/L, needs to be 5 or under which is 90mg/dL) so my diabetes nurse started me on metformin with dinner. It hasn't helped and if I test randomly at 11pm, 3am etc and when I get out of bed it's generally 5.2 or thereabouts. This morning it went up after getting up?

Is there anything I can try at home? I don't see the nurse till Friday.

I have found eating a bed time snack helps ... I usually have a sugar free pudding. I noticed last night I didn't eat it and this morning my sugar was high this morning. So if you aren't eating one, I would try it !
