My top names right now are Ali and Amjad. I know that Ali is preferred by the vast majority of people over Amjad but I find myself leaning towards Amjad lately.

I want to know:

Any negative associations I might've missed?

How complicated or hard or weird or strange do you find the name?

If you have a more "ethnic" name, share your experience please! Any comments on having a name that is obviously not from the dominating culture? Whether it's Juanita or Khadijah or Caoimhe.

THANKS!

I am just not sure how to pronounce it which is why I would instantly lean towards Ali, could you elaborate for me

Exactly how it's spelled... am-jad (either with a soft or harder J is fine)

I still prefer Ali, my friend is called Amit and I always loved that name, and Amir is nice too. Just picking out some other A names here, although im sure you've probably seen them all
Some other nice 'ethnic' names, mainly from friends
Tariq, Syed, Rami, Malik, Ziad, Yousaf, Hasan,

I was also going to suggest Amir! But I do like Amjad as well. I have no negative associations with it.

I've never heard of the name Amjad, it doesn't bring any negative associations to mind thought and sounds like a nice strong name. It makes me think of the old amstrad computers from the dark ages but that's about it!

I really like Ali, I'm not too sure on Amjad, I think for me it's quite similar sounding to Adam too x
