What does everyone think of Georgia? I really like it, it's not my first choice but it's the only name me & hubby agree on after going through literally hundreds!

My only worry: I hate the thought of the nickname George! :nope: Hate it, hate it, hate it. Do you think she would end up a George? How else could it be nicknamed? (I didn't have a nickname so I have a thing about nicknames now!)

Georgia is lovely!!

I think if you enfore the fact that she is Georgia and not George she will be called Georgia. I don't think George is a nickname that she will be given anyway as it can be seen as quite "offensive" iyswim? It's like calling her a boy.

But yeah, Georgia is lovely, so pretty!

i had a georgia in my year at school.. and even though its a nice name everyone called her georgie or george.. she hated it...
i love the name but some ppl can ruin by nicknames i know what u mean..
its like i wanna use the name thomas.. but not tommy.. so i understand :hugs:

I quite like it. I think if you constantly refer to her as Georgia and correct people who call her otherwise they'll get the hint. Likewise, if your daughter does the same thing when she's older...

I really like the name Georgina, too, which is close. There's always the option of her nickname being Gina, that way as well.

My OH's girl is called Georgia and she never gets called George. Everyone calls her Georgia or very occasionally Georgie.

Thanks ladies, food for thought here... maybe I'll just have to be firm that she's a Georgia. I wish I liked Georgina as Gina is lovely, I don't know why but I just don't love it the same way.

I think Georgia is a lovely name but if your hearts not in it (which i don't think it is) i would get the books out and have another long look!! Afterall your child is stuck with the name for her whole life and you can't change your mind when/if people start calling her George!!

Goodluck x x

I think Georgia is a lovely name, but I think however much you and your family call her Georgia, she may still get George attached to her at school and by other kids. So it depends on whether you can deal with hearing that. My OH is called Johnny, but his parents, sister etc all call him Jonathan and don't like the name Johnny. All of his friends and me call him a name they don't like!

I love love love love the name Georgia!
:D

iv never heard it get nicknamed to George if anyone did it if i called my child it id just correct them :haha: some people might say Georgie but i really doubt it Georgia to me is a solid name :)! Im the same im not as keen on Georgina but i really like Georgia xx

I think Georgia is a beautiful name but really don't like it shortened to Georgie, it's just not the same! But I think if you (and her when she's older) correct people if they call her George or Georgie then she will always be Georgia.

I love love love Georgia It was my #1 name until my bf at the time had a dog named Georgia. Then, afterward my sister told me it was her name (even though I knew better and was secure I passed it along as I liked it so). I told my sister she could have the name as it was now a friends dogs name so I don't care and she said "well I guess it depends on who is pregnant first": and I was like, well maybe, and she actually used the terms, "on your mark, get set, go!!" which is also sad since I have been struggling to get pregnant. So strange and definitely not going to use the name at this point (even though I know where I chose it from so many years ago now!)

and fyi, in case I went off on my own personal sh*t, I love the name a lot! Go for it :)

Aww readyforbaby you obviously love the name I don't think you should give up on it just yet!

Funnily enough my mum once had a very naughty dog called Georgia which she likes to bring up whenever I mention the name, saying she's not sure she could get used to it for a baby now. I'm ignoring her though, she'll have to get used to whatever I choose!
After all this is the woman who wants me to choose a Welsh name despite the fact that none of us are Welsh!

I do actually quite love Georgia... *sighs* No Georges here, thank you.

I like Georgia. I think its a very feminine name and not widely used, which I like too.

My 3 year old sister is called Georgia and she never gets called George. I love her name but then I am biased haha. In fact she never gets called any nicknames apart from me calling her georgie porgie lol but she has got chubby cheeks!
