Hi everyone. I'm fairly new here although 25 wks but not much of a poster cos it scares me. Tho I do read everyone elses.

My problem is I'm 25 weeks 2 nd pregnancy (ds is 5) with GD , which I also had in last pregnancy but not til later. I'm now on metformin 1500mg and novorapid 3 x day. BUT I am starving. Is anyone else like this. I eat three meals a day and one snack but am too scared to eat more.any ideas or do I just need to put up with it.??

I don't think I'm going to be much help!

I'm on 500mg metformin twice a day, having been diagnosed with GD 4 weeks ago (I think). Managed on diet alone for 1st week but was then put on tablets, which were upped last week.

I'm always hungry! I have 3 meals a day also and sometimes a snack. My levels have been creeping up even with the tablets so I'm scared to eat.
My worst thing is cravings. It's like they take over my brain and I can't think about anything but them! Maybe I'm craving things because I'm hungry or because I know I can't have them??!

Maybe you could have a talk with a dietician?
Mine seems to be pretty helpful and I have an appointment tomorrow.

Maybe you could bulk up your meals a little? Or eat more often but smaller amounts than normal meals?

I hope you get it sorted and feel less hungry :flower:

I'm on 10 units Lantus (slow acting) and Novorapid - the units I decide upon depending on what I eat, but its usually around 6 for dinner. I was put on Novorapid because I was hungry too and was losing weight and they said I shouldn't be so theoretically the Novorapid was to counteract the extra food I was taking, however I'm not eating much more than before, perhaps a bit more rice and potatoes, but I'm scared to have too much more too!
I would talk to your diabetes clinic as you shouldn't be hungry.

Thanks to you both. I feel better knowing it's not just me. Prob part of the diabetes and our fear of food. I have found walnuts help but there is a limit to how often you want them!! I am in clinic on friday so will speak to duabetic nurse and dietician.

I'm only on 4 novorapid in am and 2 with lunch and dinner. I kind of feel it's such a piddly amount it's more for injection practice... Usually my sugars are below the 7.8 with the occasional blip up in which case I either avoid that food item or guess if it keeps happening will get my insullin increased.

Everyone here has been really helpful tho. And I love reAding the posts. It makes me feel more normal.
