i have only just had a gtt test because my bloods were fine before but have done the test because one baby is measuring large .
My gtt test was said to be borderline and have got to repeat the test next week , i have been told to lay off sugary foods, i have no experience of this at all and was wondering if anyone had any advice or tips on what to expect, what to eat ect? thanks x

Hi there. I have gestational diabetes and been on insulin since I was 17 weeks pregnant. My advice is to be careful with your carbohydrate intake which I know is difficult as this can send your blood sugars soaring. Sliced white bread is high in sugar so try and opt for brown bread or even fresh bread where you can. Breakfast could be porridge instead of toast/fruit and boiled egg with wholemeal toast.

To be honest managing GD at this point in pregnancy may not have much effect as it's been diagnosed late however making small changes in your diet will definitely benefit. I have only gained 6lbs during my pregnancy as I've been eating a lot more healthily since I was diagnosed but then I'm only carrying 1 baby!!

Hope this helpful. xx

thanks blondie, i will be cross if i have got it as i could have been doing something about it before,i thought i was eating a balanced diet but that did involve wholemeal toast and pasta , hopefully find out today x
