Now I have started weaning holly do i need to give her water?

I tryed to give her some earlier and it made her gag so much she threw up all the sweet potato puree i just fed her. I think she needs some water cos her wee has started smelling quite stong and i think that is cos shes dehydrated...:S

Shes going off the (.Y.)'s already tho and doesnt seem as content after feeds as she used to and her latch has got very bad...Ouch!!:(

I don't know.
Simon sips a little water out of his cup for practice, but it's not much and it's not regular. He still drinks most of his calories, though.
How did you give her the H2O? Bottle or cup?

I gave it her in a bottle, i tryed it in a sippy cup the other day but i tink she was too young to do it and just cryed...

I would offer in a sippy and if she takes it great, if not that's fine too. She doesn't need to have it, she still gets what she needs from you and also her food has alot of water content. Her pee might be smelling diff just from her food. Have you noticed it being darker in color?

Maybe give her a very small amount after feeding, then offer her larger amounts when it won't interfere with digestion?
Are you not giving her formula or some sort of liquid to replace the breast milk? That is still where she should be getting most of her protein and fluid from what I've read.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes her wee is darker more, well, wee coloured when before it was pretty much clear.

She wont take formula so i've not been replacing the breastmilk with anything just feeding on demand still but she hardly ever wants it 4x today but not for very long...Could i spoon feed her water??

Offer her water in a sippy cup. Dont try to make her drink it - she just needs to get used to the cup and she'll probably play with it at first. You would have thought I was trying to get Hebe to drink poison the face she pulled at first! But she actually likes it now. Offer (.Y.) for a drink in between is my advice. :D

Fred is the same his face is a picture when he actually swallows the water!

i was using a non spill cup at first and he couldn't use it so now i use a free flow one, he hardly ever has any TBH but i offer it anyway xx

about half hour after i feed him i offer him a bottle or me depending what we are doing so he has had a drink xx

she will get all the fluid she needs from you or formula at this age hon x
