hiya everyone, im due tomorrow, 18th jan, and being induced monday with prostin if baby hasnt made an appearance by then, i had a caesarean with my dd and was wondering if anyone else has had a successful vbac with prostin induction, and also are they likely to let me walk around after the prostin has been absorbed or will i be attatched to the monitor until the baby arrives?
thanks in advance
kim xx

Why are you being induced? Have they tried a stretch and sweep first? Have they offered an alternative method such as stretching the cervix with a inflatable balloon?

I'd be cautious about any type of hormonal induction with a VBAC as it does increase the chances of rupture. My preference would be to wait for spontaneous labour and be monitored. Of course that's not always possible.

Thanks for reply, im being induced for spd and had a sweep 2 days ago (which i think has failed :( )
they didn't offer me anything else, just wrote 'prostin 2mgs x1 then discuss'
at my sweep i was 1cm dilated, 2cm thick (about 50%effaced), medium consistancy, mid position and bishop score of 5
i originally wanted an elective section instead of induction but changed my mind and went for the induction, im hoping to labour naturally before Monday but only had irregular contractions and a bit of back pain, along with a bloody show, so don't think any thing major is happening at the moment

Is that the pessary behind your cervix? I was told that is the riskiest induction technique in a vbac as once in they can't stop theeffects. II'd ask for a second sweep. My first didn't work but my second did. Had a vbac at 40+6.

Its the gel i think? Aww i don't know what to do, im a bit disheartened about the sweep not working on Wednesday, having a few pains tonight so hoping i go naturally before Monday so i don't have to make the decision lol xx

Yeah the gel and pessary are much the same. I was told if I needed to be induced they would try breaking my waters and the drip if needed but no gel/pessary.
By Monday your cervix might be thinner and more dilated anyway and maybe they can break your waters? Xxx

Hopefully they can pop my waters then, id rather that than risk a rupture! Even if not i might ask if there is anything else they can try, its my due date and my partners birthday tomorrow so hoping these pains pick up and she arrives tomorrow! Lol xx
