I have to go see my GP tomorrow morning for the results of my latest CD21 bloods after 3 months on Clomid. She's then (she told me at last visit) going to increase the Clomid and possibly add in some Metformin too.

Now the thing is, does anyone know if anyone (either on here or just someone you know) has ever got pregnant after a higher dose of Clomid? I can't say that I can remember anyone on here (I do have a memory like a sieve though ) and if the chances aren't good, then I really dont think I want to continue with it - I've had awful side effects just from 50mg dose, however, if there is a good chance that it would work then of course I would be willing.

I've also been reading about ovarian drilling which I could ask about (I have PCOS).

Not sure what I want to gain out of tomorrows appointment, I'd appreciate some advice please!

Hi claire,

I've just been told that I won't be continuing on clomid after 5 months because it just didn't work. I was up to 150mg and the side effects weren't nice.

I know what you mean about never hearing about any successes on the higher dose. It's probably because clomid is supposed to be more effective in the first 3 months (when you're only the lower dose). I would guess that's probably because it makes most people ov in the first 3 months and so there is more chance of getting pg. After 3 months, chances go down (don't know why)

But if your doc is going to add something else into the mix, it mite make it more effective (not sure coz I only took clomid)

But if something doesn't feel right, let them know you're not happy. I was asked if i wanted to try 200mg and i said HELL NO!!

Good luck

OMG 200mg????? No I wouldn't be happy to take that either!!!

I think my GP said she might include Metformin to the Clomid but I'm not sure why/what this does.

I'll have a chat with her, I have a feeling I am going to come away with a huge dose of Clomid though :-(

Metformin is used for patients with Diabetes normlly but studies have shown due to absorbtion issues with sugar in POCS patients it can improve the effects of POCS - very positive move - good luck fingers crossed for you.

I was given Metformin when first diognised with POCS - subsequently now they don't think I do have it?? Hosptial hay!!!

I'm starting Clomid on friday - wish me luck.

x

weirdly, I didnt seem to ovulate on 100 or 150mg, but had regular cycles/2 early m/c on 50 mg (dropped back to 50 after higher doses, which was when I had the second loss)

good luck sweets
