Yellow bump turned PINK!! Couldn't be happier!:happydance:

Elec section was 3pm Thurs, I was up and showered by 9am Friday morning and came home Sunday (could have come home Saturday I was having a few feeding issues with baby). I have no pain other than when jumping out of bed too quick to see to baby in the night :dohh: and am able to do pretty much anything within reason.

If anyone has any questions please ask -I was a bag of nerves before my section and questioned my decision daily but Im really glad I had one xx

I am having a planned c-section around 39 weeks, both my previous births have resulted in emcs the last pregnancy was induced at 39 weeks. That time, due to scar tissue it resulted in me getting a bladder tear. Everything was fine as were me and baby.

So this pregnancy my consultant has advised a planned c-section to avoid an emergency situation where time is of the essence, she assures me it is a much more relaxed and calm atmosphere where the team can take their time to avoid complications.

Part of me is happy and relaxed about it but I have so much scar tissue, part of me thinks the best thing to do is just let me labour to see if I can make it to the end, each pregnancy i failed to dilate, 7cm with the first, 8cm with the second, I just think that I have a chance of going all the way... i don't know, maybe I want to try, and i'm not being given a choice.... my daughter will be 16 months old when I have the c-section and my partner will only have 2 weeks off work, which will leave me to have to see to her and baby and my 9 year old son, the post op period is so long and lifting is going to be an issue....i ended up driving after 2 weeks due to the fact I had no choice last time.

is the recovery better after a planned c-section, what do I expect on the day??? my partner has heard really good things from a work colleague who went through a planned c-section with his wife. I just seem to have mixed emotions about it all.

another issue I have is that they are leaving it till 39 weeks, If I go into labour myself they are still insisting on performing c-section without hesitation.

I don't mind as long as baby is ok, I just maybe need to raise my issues at my final apt on 14 November with consultant.

Anything you can say to re-assure me would be great xxx
sorry to rant x

So lovely to hear of a good experience :) and Congrats on you pink bundle!

I had an EMCS wit DD1 and the C-Section part and recovery was fantastic, so not too worried about that!
I'm having my ELCS on Thursday (just got a call to move it from the 31st eek) and just a little worried about the lead up to the section...
How long I'll have to wait from arriving til the op
Where do you wait!? Labour ward!? The ward you go to ater op!? Where will my bags be left!? Will someone have to move them!?
How they do the spinal (numbing injection first!?)
Will baby be taken away whilst I'm in recovery!?

I'm sure those questions will probs get answered at my pe-op, but that's tomorrow...a whole day away haha :flower:

To the above poster, I can answer one of those queries... They won't book you in before 39 weeks due to new guidelines RE babies lung development! (or so I was told at my last consultant appt) :flower:

Feel a million times better about my decision to have an elective c-section after these stories. I was given a choice were I could have any birth I wanted - natural, forceps, induced or c-section. There isn't enough evidence to support that any would be better than another. I decided a c-section would be best for me as I don't want the pulling and pushing making my back problems and fibromyalgia worse.
It's such a relief to see people who are happy with their c-section experience and recovery.
Very greatful for this thread!
xx

Great stories. I'll have to have an elcs this time and I feel a bit nervous already. Last time was such a blur as it was an emergency and there were so many people and so many needles... Shudder. I also shook a lot after delivery and can't remember Isabelle's first few hours :(

Really hoping this time will be positive but scared at the same time.

yes that is why I have to wait till 39 weeks, she has no reason to deliver early,I'm healthy, the pregnancy is healthy without complication and the baby is healthy, yes you are right x that is one of the reasons she gave me.xxx
