Hi

I am getting extra growth scans as my paap a levels were very very low. My 28 week growth scan was perfect but had one yesterday at 31 +3 and my amniotic fluid was a bit reduced and though the baby had grown it had seemed to tail off. They also checked blood flow through the placenta which was fine.

A bit terrified as they are checking me in a weeks time for placenta blood flow and fluid levels and then the week after for another scan. But they already seem to be talking steroids and possible 33 week delivery. Rather scared of all of this - a bit shell shocked. Anybody else in this posisiton?

Have already been up to the hospital about 3 times as I thought movements ere reduced but always been okay and I do still get my 10 kicks a day at least so nobody seem unduly worried about that.

Hi hunny, I haven't been in your exact situation but with my last pregnancy they were concerned about growth had a scan at 37/38 weeks and she was about 6lb and they were still concerned!!! Did they give you an estimated weight??

Also they told me there was not much water and I was induced the next day, when I was in labour and the midwife broke my water she said there was plenty and my daughter was born 5lb 8oz but perfectly fine!!

At least they are giving you extra scans and keeping an eye on you..good luck :hugs:

Hey sweetie...I have low papp a levels too. Ive just had my first uterine doppler scan to check blood flow on tuesday. Ive been put on aspirin too just as a precaution. I have my next doppler scan at 28 weeks and will have a placental one then too. I know how you are feeling at the moment. I havent been told as of yet about time of induction or when i will be having baby. At the moment it stands at between 36-38 weeks. Please feel free to pm me whenever you want to just chat or talk about it. Sending you big hugs sweetie.:hugs:

Hey there, I have been in exactly your position - was diagnosed with growth restricted baby at 28 weeks, was scanned at 29 weeks to check fluid which was low, then scanned again at 30 weeks and fluid was back to within normal range but baby was further behind in growth! Got scanned again at 31 weeks and fluid again was fine and then had a scan at 32 weeks - baby had grown but only very slightly! I was then admitted to Hospital on the Tuesday and was scanned daily to check blood flow which had become an absent flow! On Friday 29th January 2009 I went for scan and flow was still absent - fast forward to 4.53pm and Mia Emily Nicol was born at 32 weeks and 5 days, weighing 2lb 4 oz by c section! She is in SCBU but doing brilliantly - has not needed any assitance with her breathing and aside from a tube in her nose going to her tummy for her feeds, she has no drips etc! It is VERY scary the thought of baby coming early but sometimes they do better out than in! Also I had steroid injections at 29 weeks and I am sure then helped with Mia's lungs and thus enabled her to breath unaided!
