Hi everyone

Feeling really crappy tonight. Have endo and a short lp. Took first round of clomid (50mg) this month to see if it helped and have just started spotting today - 6dpo!! (normally it' s7dpo). How on earth could clomid make things even worse?!

I was feeling so hopeful that clomid would help. Luckily I am going to get IVF soon - have fs appointment in April. However, I really wanted to avoid that! I'm 36 and the clock is ticking. So low I can't even cry - this is sooooo crappy!

ooh hun :hugs: I'm really hoping your spotting stops, IB is a much better option that stupid spotting! Has your Dr tried progesterone supplements? If this is your first month on clomid, there is still scope to change the dose and things. I hope things work out hun.

Its hard to know what to say to make you feel any better, I do feel your pain, thats one thing you can be sure about on here doll your not going thru this on your own! you need some chocolate or something to give you a little pick me up xxx

Thanks Jojo-M

I have been on prog supplements for a few months before clomid - no BFP. I was worried that maybe there was a hormone problem before ov affecting my luteal phase - hence the clomid. I wish I could believe it was IB but it is just too much like my usual period starting for me to even consider it! I was sooo hopeful this month and started acupuncture so can't blame anything on beng negative etc. This is sooo horrid. Got to go out with loads of friends who are pregnant/have babies at weekend and I honestly can't face it!

xxxxx

So sorry to hear that Silarose. Maybe a higher dose of Clomid would help?? Also, it can take 3 months to see the benefits of accu so don't give up just yet!! There's an Accu thread on TTC section and few of the ladies there have luteal phase defect...Why don't you drop by and say Hi?? Maybe they can fill you in on how TCM is working for them. Sending you :hugs:

Hiya

I'm so sorry that the clomid isn't working how you hoped. It only really lengthened my lp when I took it at 100mg, rather than 50, so there maybe a case to go for a stronger dose. Having said that, my FS did warn me that it did occasionally shorten women's lps, so maybe it's just not the right solution for you. It's crappy, but fertility treatment does seem to be on a 'trial and error' basis. Make sure you tell your accupuncturist that you're feeling low when you next see her - she'll be able to work on points that make you feel a bit better about everything. xxx

Hi Silarose - sorry to hear the clomid didn't pan out. I have a VERY short lp and last month I did clomid + injectibles (gonal-f and ovidrel) plus progesterone and my lp went from 8 days to 14! I was shocked. :happydance:

IUI didn't work but I felt encouraged by the extended lp. So if clomid doesn't work, you may want to move on to injectibles.

PS - know what you mean about getting together with friends who have babies, am going out for lunch with 2 girlfriends who have 2 each on the w/e... not looking forward to it...

Hi everyone

Thanks for all of your lovely replies.

I had to work from home this morning as couldn't stop crying. Maybe I should go back to the fs and ask about taking injectibles/progesterone - the thing is that my appoitment isn't until April 14th. Maybe I should go private - I'll have a think about it and calnl the private hospital tomorrow.

I'm dreading dinner tomorrow! Can't bear baby talk for hours! Have to do it though - don't want to spoil it for everyone else x

Hey Aprils not so far off, I know it feel like it! I've been waiting for my fs appointment since November, and its on April 27th!!! They won't rush these things. I try to think that i've waited this long (18 cycles now) whats another 2? and besides it might just happen naturally in that time lol how deluded am I?

Why don't you try ringing them and ask how they feel about giving you injectibles? at least you'd have your answer sooner. Of course you could go private, its a lot of money to commit to though isn't it?

I've had a morning of baby talk too as my friend is due on monday, sat with my hand on her bump feeling baby wiggle made me feel rather sad. Have a big glass of wine and hopefully you'll get thru it all emotionally intact. Keep it in mind hun " its my turn next its my turn next" xx

Hiya

Have had a big glass of wine and some chips tonight to make me feel better!!

Is it your first appointment in April? It seems a long time to wait from Nov. Us ladies seem to just have to get used to waiting around don't we? There's no way my fs will take phone calls - even the secretaries are impossible to get hold of. I think i am just going to wait until April. A private appointment is about £150 which i could afford - but to be honest I'm not sure anything but IVF is going to work for me so I think I will hold out for that. I'm wondering whether to even bother taking the clomid next month?! I might give it 1 more go and use my natural progesterone cream to help with my luteal phase (though that hasn't really worked in the past - only the suppositories worked which were much stronger).

Will just need to put on a brave face tomorrow and leave early - I can do it!

Thanks again for the support x

I got to see a nurse in January after been referred by gp in nov. She organised SA for hubby and hsg for me which we had done in feb, she booked us the April appointment whilst there, I thought 4 months was a long wait!!! oh well!

You sound a little more postive now, I don't like to hear when people feel down, I know all too well how it feels! You'll be fine tomorrow, like you said you can always leave early xx

Hi Fisher

I'm sorry you feel so low - I know how horrible it is!
I'm feeling a bit better today - not sure that will last once I have to talk about babies for hours tonight - am literally dreading it. Maybe your fs will have an alternative for you or suggest IVF. FX for you x

Hi everyone, I can really relate to this thread. I'm on 2nd month of clomid + just know I'm going to start spotting today/tomorrow, currently 10dpo. I usually spot for 3-5 days before period. Am on 50mg + don't know if I should try + speak to consultant about increasing the dose. A bit worried about doing that as I felt really, really low last month, partly a build up of all the stress of everything but think a bit to do with clomid too. Also, consultant was quite dismissive of any issue with LP when I tried to talk to him about it, he's not that approachable in general really. On a brighter note, I went to see a counsellor last week which did help.

I was so hopeful that clomid would help my short LP but it doesn't seem to have made a lot of different. (although I did use to ovulate d16-18 and it was d14 this month so i suppose that has effectively lengthened my LP, not changed the spotting though) I know how hard it is to be around friends with their babies, its just awful at times.

Hi Neets

Hope the spotting held off for you this month. I've heard a luteal phase of 10 days is normal so I hope you got that far. I know what you mean about medics dismissing luteal phase defect - I have had to push and push to get mine recognised and now know that I have endo - this wouldn't have been dsicovered unless I pushed!!!

i have booked an appointment with my fs on Mon to see if I can get progesterone supplements to take after ov - probably won't work but worth a try. Am also going to ask about upping the dose of clomid and injectibles. I ahve to go private but I'm past caring about the cost to be honest!! Has anyone else taken progesterone after ov when talkign clomid?

I was on clomid plus injectibles, and I took progesterone from days 18-26 because I started spotting a few days after my IUI. I think it helped lengthen my LP.

Thanks ReikiBaby. I am not having IUI - would I still be able to have injectibles? I had a hcg shot a few months back to induce ovulation - the dr did it - is that the same thing? Did you do it yourself or did the dr do it? xxx

I don't know if they give injectibles without a procedure? The meds I took were to produce more follicles (gonal-f), a shot to stop me from ovulating at one point so they could grow the follicles more (cetrotide) and then the hcg shot to induce ov. Plus clomid at the start. I gave myself the shots and was surprised by how easy it was!
:winkwink:

Hi ReikiBaby

Thanks for the info. I'll ask about all of this when I see the dr on Monxxxx

Hiya Ladies,

I'm currently on Clomid 100mg, I've just finished up my second round. I had to start taking them because the egg would just sit there and not release. Anyway I started out on 50 mg and they didn't work well for me but the 100 mg does work very well, I have two other kids both from Clomid so I just wanted to let you know that Clomid does work for a lot of women but the dose has to be correct. Good Luck Ladies and I hope you soon see you BFP!!

-Crystal

Hi Crystal - that's just what they think might be happening to me. I will defo ask about upping the dose on my next visit x
