Me and my son both took to breastfeeding like a dream. No problems latching and no problems with soreness whatsoever. I was wondering, does this mean i'm likely to have a good experience breastfeeding second time around or is it random every time?

What it means is that YOU should have an easy time (as in production, soreness, etc), but it's impossible to say whether this new baby will have it as easy. If there are latching issues, tongue-tie, reflux, allergies, etc, it could be a whole different story.

Best of luck, though! :flower: I had a hard time BFing both times so I envy moms who had it easy!

This - I think it means you are likely to have a good supply and there's no doubt experience helps (esp. during the growth spurts) - but there is no accounting for each baby...

My Mum BF my older brother for 12 weeks, younger brother 6 months - me 2 weeks!! She said I was having none of it and after a fortnight struggle she gave me bottles.

My son took to it like a dream and dd was a little trickier as she had trouble latching on the right side for some reason. But I knew to try different positions and knew to stick with it. I had cracked nipples with her which I never had with ds but never got mastitis which I'd had with ds. They both fed for just short of a year though and I'll be aiming for the same this time xx

In my opinion it was far easier the second time around. You know how to hold the baby, what to look for in terms of latch and swallows, and easier to tell when your baby is hungry and eating and not just needing soothing.
As PP have said, it will depend on your baby and any issues they may have, but you will be able to recognize if something isn't normal and when to ask for help.

I had a horrible time trying to breastfeed my first baby. I hope it works out better this time around when my daughter is born

My 1st was so easy no problems at all solely breastfed for 6 months...2nd 3rd and 4th not such a wonderful story, 2nd had reflux, only managed 8 weeks, bleeding nipples the lot. 3rd was a big baby and just was never satisfied only managed 6 weeks and 4th just wouldnt latch and was constantly hungry because of not latching on properly only lasted 2 weeks. That said the bad experiences have not put me off and I will be trying to breastfeed again when this LO comes xx

My first time was really hard but LO had a tongue tie and this set us back, making it very hard for him to feed for quite some time. It had a dominoes effect as it meant I was getting engorged, which lead to mastitis, which made it even more difficult to feed and I didn't pump very well. I would definitely put myself in the category of women who stop breastfeeding because it is just too much of a challenge despite continuing until he was 20 months. If your baby has an issue like this it can definitely make bf'ing more difficult so it is dependent on the situation.

Chances are, if you had a good supply last time, I don't see why you wouldn't have a good supply this time. I guess just deal with it when it arises and see how it goes!

Every baby is different. Each one latches different, has their own feeding schedule, requires different amounts of milk and your milk production can also vary.

I have a similar situation first lo was a breeze. I had a csection and was worried that it would interfere but it didn't. He was nursing within 15 minutes of birth and we were champs from there. I hope this lo is the same... but reading some pp is making me think different...
