Title says it all. I did the typical hospital pitocin/epidural birth because it's what I thought I wanted, but I've learned so much since then! It felt wrong while I was going through with it, especially since I didn't let DD pick her own birthday. Now I'm due in March and SO looking forward to a water birth at the local birth center. Only thing I'm a bit worried about is how I'll manage the pain! I labored for 5 hours on pit without any meds, and my way of coping was to literally pass out between each contraction and silently sob during them. It is not a good memory lol

Awesome! I wish you the best! I had my first in a hospital (with an epidural) and then my next two were born at home. The difference between medicated and non-medicated, for me, was INCREDIBLE. Seriously, there are no words, and it taught me to LOVE giving birth. Being able to feel what your body is doing and have control over that aspect really is an amazing thing.

Good luck! I am in the same position, straight pit for god knows how long, looking forward to being at home and possibly in the water for #2.

Good luck Jessica.p!!!!! :happydance: I'm so excited for you!

I have read again and again that contractions without Pitocin are so different! I think because they happen the way nature intended, your body is capable of handling them much better!

You will be great! :hugs:

I love what you said about baby choosing her own birthday! I never thought of that.

Good luck, you will do fine!

I had my first in hospital, it was horrible I cried my way through the labour and felt so disappointed afterwards. My second I laboured at home and went into a birth centre for the birth, it was better but still parts of it I wasnt happy with.

I had my last one at home, in water, no pain relief and it was amazing, I was much more relaxed and dealt with the whole thing much better! For the 'pain' the best thing is to breath and relax.. that helped me more than anything else.. the more worked up and tense I was the more uncomfortable it was.

You will love it! :D
