My due date was Oct 31st but I was scheduled to go in for an induction on Tuesday the 29th because of gestational diabetes. Then on Monday Oct 28th I started having contractions around 8am. A couple times they woke me up but I thought I just had a stomach ache. I went to the bathroom thinking maybe I had to go but didn't. I had pink blood when I wiped then thought maybe something might be happening. I went back and woke up my oh and told him and he just brushed it off and said I was probably having false contractions and went back to sleep. I started timing the pains and at that time they were 5-7 minutes apart. I woke my oh up again and told him my tummy kept hurting so he rubbed my back and fell back asleep once again. I kept timing them and they were 4-6 minutes apart every time so I woke my oh up again and we got ready to leave for the hospital. I got to the hospital at about 10am. I was hooked up to the monitor to watch baby's heart rate and my contractions. I was 1cm when the nurse checked me. Before that at my last appointment the week before I wasn't dilated at all. The nurse said they'd watch my contractions and see if anything changed to decide wether to move me to labor and delivery or send me home. They called my ob and since I was suppose to be coming in the next day to be induced they would keep me either way. I was so excited knowing that when I left the hospital I'd be leaving with my son. I was moved to my new room and my mom who was waiting in the waiting room was let in. Then the baby's heart rate started dropping really low. They had me turn onto my side and it went back up but then started dropping again. The nurses put an oxygen mask on me and called my ob. She told them to break my water to move things along faster. I started to panic a little and cried when they broke my water. They put a monitor on the baby's head to monitor his heart rate better and it was fine. They check me again after breaking my water and I was 3 cm this time. Soon after my contractions started to come every 2 minutes and sometimes even closer. I decided to finally get an epidural even though I was trying to go all natural. It was literally the best thing ever to me at that moment! Lol I don't regret getting it at all. Right after getting my epidural they checked my cervix again and I had went from 3-9cm. The nurse asked me if I wanted to start pushing before my ob got there. It would take her 30 to get to the hospital. I told her I'd rather wait a little. I started pushing about 5 minutes before my dr got there. While I was pushing the baby's heart rate kept dropping. They put an oxygen mask on me again. My dr told me we have to get this baby out and that she needed me to keep pushing. I kept pushing for as long as I could. Then she noticed the baby had turned while I was pushing so she had to use forceps and turn him. She told me she had to cut me because she needed this baby put right away. I pushed a couple more times and he was out. He kind of just hung there limp not crying or moving. I was so scared I felt like crying but all I could was was watch the drs work on him and wait for him to cry. Finally I heard the smallest little cry and felt so relieved. I found out his chord was too short so every time I pushed it cut off his circulation. Elian was born at 5:18 pm on Oct 28th. He was 20 in long and 7.1 lbs. He'll be a week old tomorrow and I couldn't be any happier since he's been here.
