Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone else out there has dealt with or is dealing with 0% normal morphology (or very low morphology counts)? My DH had his first SA done in April of this year and we were told he had a good count (didn't get actual numbers); 44% motility but 0% normal morphology.

He has just had his 2nd SA done and we were immediately called by the Dr's to go and get the results so we are going on Friday. At this point we are imagining not much has changed so I'm just trying to get as much info and advice as possible so I can go to the Dr prepared. I would really appreciate any advice, suggestions of information any of you might have.

We have been TTC # 2 for almost 2 years and have a DS who is almost 4. I don't really understand how things with his sperm can change so much in 4 years?! He doesn't smoke, eats a healthy diet, exercises and drinks modestly at weekends. He also takes multi vitamins but we have just ordered a month's supply of FertilAid to try as well.

We just got my DHs sperm results and have 1% morphology. Everything else is in normal ranges... I'm on here looking for help/advice too. What did you end up finding out about his second SA? My DH was told to get another one done in a month too - so I'm curious how much it can change in that amount of time?

Hi MltoDC!

Unfortunately I don't think I can be of much help. The results of his 2nd SA weren't good. We found out that he actually has a really low count (after initially being told his count was fine!) and his motility had gone from 44% to 19%. On the positive side though his morphology improved to 2% (still super low but hey - a lot better than 0%!!!). I guess what we took out of the appt is just how much SA's can change. There was a 6 month gap inbetween his tests. Since we eat well, are healthy, don't smoke, do drugs etc and only drink moderately at weekends I have no idea what would have caused his motility to drop so low.....it's very frustrating but just the way it was that day.

Your DH has probably been told to go back in a month because he could have just had an off day. Once they have 2 SA's they will get a better idea. If the morphology is still low they might wait a bit longer to retest. Generally it takes 3 months for new sperm to be made and fully mature so any changes to your lifestyle, diet, etc would take 3 months to see a change.

As for my DH I think quite honestly his sperm has probably always been like that so on the flip side I know I can get pregnant from it as it has happened once before so I'm staying positive for the time being.

Our next steps are that he has been referred to a urologist so we are just waiting to get the appt, and I have been referred to an OBGYN to rule out anything on my side as well. Unfortunately the whole process seems to be taking SO long though!! In the meantime he has started taking Fertilaid for Men and when I reorder the next batch I'm going to order the Count Boost and Motility Boost as well as some Preseed for me since I figure it can't hurt as at this point is way cheaper than fertility treatment!!!

Good luck with everything. Let me know if you hear or find anything and if you have any other questions fire away and I will do my best to help!

Thanks White Orchid,

It really helps to hear that from someone who has gone and is going through something similar. My DH had very limited feedback from his doctor when he got the results beyond the "come back in a month and try again" part. So it's nice to get another opinion. For now we're in the waiting game I guess.

Figures crossed for both of us!

Hello lovelies,

I'm not sure if I can be of any help but my best friends DH had the same troubles with morphology, and was recommended to take co-enzyme Q10, vitamin C, zinc, selenium and a multivitamin by a doctor friend. The following SA was sooo much better, and has continued to improve, and they're now pregnant, so just wanted to share xx

You're so welcome! Wishing you all the luck in the world xx

we had the same problem
we have been trying for 1 year and a half but 9 months now we bd in every ovulation...when it didnt happen in the first 3 months i was checked everything is ok with me ...however when my hubby was checked 5 months ago they found an ecoli infection which ruins the morphology of the sperm he also had 0% good sperm...(we paid extra and did an extra test that shows viruses and infections not just the account and motility...have you all checked that factor?)

he took the antibiotics on and off almost 4 months (yeap the ecoli is the most difficult one!)and thank god he got rid of it ...
spermchart showed that the morphology is rising up again...!!!went to 10%!!!
