Has anyone had the copper coil?

I'm thinking of having my IUD out. I have the jaydess one (like Mirena except smaller and less hormone) but I'm finding it has totally killed my sex drive and is giving me PMS.

I was on Cerazette for a long time before my last pregnancy, and it was fine (and I had no periods) but I only realised when I stopped it that it had also completely decimated my sex drive, which is apparently quite high when I'm not on any hormones!

I love the convenience of the IUD in that I don't have to think about it and I only get light spotting monthly, but I can't take the rage that it's giving me and I miss being a rampant wife :winkwink:

So, after that long story, I was wondering if anyone had tried the copper coil? Any good or bad stories appreciated. I've heard it gives you awful periods but there aren't many hormone-free contraceptive options (I hate condoms).

TIA :flower:

I had the copper IUD and I absolutely loved it! I didn't find that my periods were any different with it in and I didn't have any of the nasty side effects that can come with some of the hormonal options. That being said the only gripe that I have is that I took it out as me and OH are going to start TTC in a month or two and AF is now 5 days late (neg test today). I was very regular while it was in and thought that since there were not hormones in it that I would continue to have regular cycles when it was out. Reading forums from others I have seen that many people have had problems with their cycles becoming irregular for some time after removal. Other than that I thought it was great!

Thank you!

It's mainly the stories of horrendous periods that's putting me off, so your story makes me feel better.

Men don't realise how good they have it :haha:

i honestly LOVE the copper coil! my only complaint about it is that it made me bleed lightly for 6 weeks after i got it.

my periods are a bit heavier - weirdly only on day 2? and i have more mid cycle cramps but they're bearable!

the weird thing is that i have PCOS and my cycles before were on average about 70 days? now i have periods every month like clockwork and i am pretty sure i am ovulating! bizarre :haha:

it's definitely a good option

I had one put in just over 3 months pp. I didn't get AF back for another 4 months after so I've only had 2 AFs with it in. They've been heavier but sooooo much less painful than before having DD.

I'm glad I had it done as that's it now til we TTC again in a few years :) I never thought I'd get a coil, as we charted before, and I loved it, but the lack of sleep now means it'd be unreliable, and I really didn't want any hormonal method as it causes havoc with my body.
